We were sitting in Evan’s room, submerged in the darkness that covered us from the closed blinds. The only light was from the television, Finding Nemo playing in the background with the volume down low, so low you almost couldn’t hear it. I was leaning against Zander’s chest, watching Dory and Merlin bounce on the jelly fish. Aless was cuddling with Evan, not wanting to leave his side.
Once we got the call from Zander letting us know it was okay to come visit, we rushed right down. Aless was bouncing impatiently at the car, needing to see her dad and make sure he was okay. She needed that reassurance. She needed him.
This is the first time I have seen Zander relaxed since everything happened. He has been beyond stressed and barely sleeping. Him and Aless have been having nightm
