What Can’t Be Fixed

Chapter 5

Nikolaus POV

I look around and see that I’m in the school surrounded by Cronos’s friends and a couple of mine, spacificaly Stasia and Fletch.

“Hey guys, what’s up?” I ask, not knowing what’s going on.

“Oh, hey, you are…?” Isaiah asks. (if you have friends with DID, you do this. Acknowledge the fact that someone else is there. Just because they share a body doesn’t mean they’re the same person.)

“It’s Nick” I say.

“Oh! Hey man! Not much really, they were saying that Stasia and Alex were gonna go to your house after school tomorrow” Isaiah says.

“Oh really? Won’t Kayden be a problem?” I ask.

“Maybe but since Nathan and I are gonna be there, plus Mark, she should be fine.” Alex says.

Just then, I hear the bell ring so I get up to go to my next class ELA. It isn’t my favorite class but I’m really good at it, that’s probably why they switched to me and not, literally, anyone else. I head to class with Fletch and the rest of the day is uneventful.

I wake up the next day and do my normal routine, brush my teeth, fix my hair, and wash my face. It’s only then that I notice I have a new voice in my head. By now, I’m used to it.

Me- Hey guys? There’s someone new here.

Kayden- Oh s**t! Your right! Now there’s someone else to take care of.

Me, Nikolaus,Zander, Lyla- Kayden!! There is a kid here!!

Kayden- Oh fuc- I mean, oh heck. Don’t repeat what I said, Nikolet.

Nikolet- *Giggles* ok brother. You say a lot of bad words hehe.

Me- Guys?! The new person?! Everyone, shut it for 2 seconds! New person? Age,name,  gender, sexuality, and anything else you want to say.

New guy- I’m 17, my name is shadow,

Shadow-  I’m a guy, whatever sexuality you are, and what the heck is going on? I’m your feline so why are there so many people in your head? It’s not a mind link because you're not part of a pride yet, explain.

Kayden- I don’t know what YOU’RE talking about. Cronos has DID and we are his alters, you are one too. You must have been a cat because you’re calling yourself a feline but now you're here.

Shadow- ...No, I’m a cat-shifter, a black panther to be exact, I’m not a weak cat. On Cronos’s birthday he WILL shift into a black panther and he WILL be our prides male. 

Me- What are you talking about? The prides male? First of all, isn’t a pride for like, big cats? Second of all, what the hell is a prides male? Third of all, what do you mean by that, shifting into a black panther, I mean?

Shadow- Yes a pride is for big cats, but in our case, it’s for any shifter that can turn into any type of cat. A prides male is what takes care of the pride, an alpha in werewolf terms. And you have to shift to be the prides alpha, the black panther is what has the most authority in the cat shifter hierarchy. Shouldn’t your father have taught this to you?

When he says this all of the guys start getting defensive and get ready to defend me at any time, even though they can’t kick him out of my head or actually beat him up.

Kayden- Don’t talk abou-

Me- It’s fine, he doesn’t know. He doesn’t NEED to know. At least not now. My father isn’t in the picture, he hasn’t been for the past 5 years.

All of us (except for shadow and nikolet(She’s not even paying attention))- And we’d like to keep it that way.

Shadow- Oh.. ok then, I’ll teach you. Shouldn’t be that hard. You were born an alpha, all you need is authority, respect, bravery, and stability. If you don’t want to be taught because you think I’m lying then you can wait till we shift but I don’t think that’s a good idea.

Lyla- looks like it’s gonna be quite the challenge then.(with a slight laugh)

Me- Oh, shut up! That’s the only reason you’re here!

Lyla- Well if I wasn’t here then I would finally get some peace and quiet.

Me- Touche… 

“Hey bro!! The bus is gonna be here in 20 minutes!! Mom said that breakfast is ready!!” Nate said. He calls Sarah and Mark Mom and Dad and I don’t, it just doesn’t feel right, mom died because of me and my father hated me for it. I just call them by their name and they’re fine with it too.

“Oh shoot! I just need to change, I’ll get breakfast on the way out!” I yell.

I get up and put on an olive green t-shirt with dark blue jeans and black vans. I grab my phone off my bed, slip it in my pocket, grab my backpack and go. On the way out, I grab an apple and leave with Nathanial.

“Hey dude, why were you running so late? You’re usually up like 20 minutes before me.” Nathan asks.

“Hey! I WAS up before you!” I say, getting defensive.

“Well why were you taking so long then?”  He asks.

“There's a new person in my head space, his name is Shadow.” I explain.

“Ohhhhhh, well that explains it. So how was it?” Nathan asks.

“Not that well if I’m being honest, he says that he is a cat shifter? Apparently dad kept more secrets then I knew. I’m supposed to be an alpha of a pack and turn into a black panther on my 18th birthday. He told me that father was supposed to teach me but since he deemed me unworthy for some reason and never taught you because I’m the oldest..  He said if I didn't believe him then I could wait till I shifted then start to train but that it would be better to start now so I can be prepared to take over the pack when I graduate high school. He said that if I didn’t believe him then I could wait ‘till I shifted then start to train.” I explain.

“And you believed him? If I was you I would have just called him f*****g crazy.” Nate told me.

“Well he told me I could wait for my birthday, I don’t think that's a good idea considering the fact that, if he's telling the truth, I wouldn’t be trained at all and would have to train even harder if the time comes. Even if I never shift it would be good to learn how to fight.” I say.

“So you're doing this? I support you no matter what but I don’t think that could happen” he says.

“He explained in too much detail for it to be fake.” I say.

“Well I trust you so… I’ll help.” he says.

“Really?!” I ask excitedly.

“Yes, really. Also, Alex said that he isn’t going to go to school today because he needs to go somewhere but that hell be at our house by 2.” He says.

“Oh ya! I had forgotten about that. We’ll be home by 1:45 right?” I ask.

“Ya” 

Just then, the bus arrives and we get on to go to school. The rest of the day is uneventful and we all meet up at the end of the day to go to my house.

“So we’re finally gonna see your room, I’m so excited!” Stasia says.

“There’s nothing special about it, why are you so excited?” I ask.

“Well because I’ve never seen it, duh.” She replies.

“Ok, ms.Sassy. Alex is gonna meet us there so we need to go so we can let him in.” Nathan says.

We then went to our cars and started the 10 minute journey to my house. Me and Nathan in one car, Stasia and Fletcher, who decided to tag along, in another.

“What do you think is going to happen?” Nathan asks.

“I don’t think Kayden will attack her... unless something happens. But if something happens, he’ll attack anyone.” I respond.

“Your right, nothing should go wrong tonight, right?” i hope so…
