 I knew he was feeling terrible, but I could not move to comfort him in his pain. The area between my legs felt slightly tender. Gently, I reached out for him, but he did not seem to notice. His eyes focused on the four small wounds on my hips. I leaned forward slightly, trying to sit up. Unfortunately, I felt stuck lying there. Why was I always at a loss for words when I needed them the most? Finally, I got my breathing under control, my eyes focused on the tormented expression on his face. “Luci…” I whispered, reaching my hand out again, drawing his gaze. “It’s okay… come here…”  Slowly, he crawled back towards me, being careful to avoid touching me.
