Chapter 2

“Your parents are very wealthy, unlike mine who are not, and find it hard to pay for everything I need,” Leo said. “You know if they have enough money they would buy you anything you need, and still be there for you,” Melissa told him. Leo saw that the conversation was getting too deep and needed to cheer Melissa who was already feeling sad. With that Leo stood up from where he was sitting on the mountain and ran back through the part they came from. Melissa quickly followed him, she knew what that was all about, it was time for them to go down to the edges of the sea and throw themselves into the cold sea, swimming from one part of the sea shore to the other. Leo approached the sea shore as he immediately started undressing himself, throwing each piece of clothing he removed on the sand as he kept on running down to meet the sea. Melissa followed suit doing what Leo did with his clothes until she was left with just her pants and bra, when her legs finally touched the water, she felt like freezing because the water was very chilled. “Come on,” Leo, who was already swimming, urged her. As Melissa moved forward her whole body sank into the sea and floated to the top. Melissa was a good swimmer so she knows how to swim very well. “Hey what are you staring at?” Leo moved closer to Melissa who was by this time floating on the water with her face looking upward the sky and her back on top the water. “The stars are so beautiful out here,” Melissa pointed towards the heavens. “Yeah, they are,” Leo, who was also in the same position as Melissa looking up to the sky, agreed. “I wonder what it looks like up there? I want to be an astrologist when I am older,” Melissa said. “Wow, that’s a very good dream you’ve got,” Leo attested. “Yes, but I don’t think my parents would let me?” Melissa muttered. “Hey, why do you say so?” Leo turned and made his leg go deep into the water as he stood erect still floating on the water. “Because my dad would want me to go into his line of business as soon as I turn eighteen years of age.” “The teachers that came to teach me are already giving me lectures on business,” Melissa explained. “My dad has always talked about how I will travel out of the island and attend a business school and come back home to manage the family business.” Leo saw Melissa’s mouth quivering as she talked, she was already catching cold, and Leo knew immediately that he had to get her out of the cold sea and make her warm. “Melissa we need to leave the water now,” Leo said, urging her to follow him out of the sea. They both swam out of the water and got to the shores as Leo walked out and used the blanket which was laying on the sand where Melissa had thrown it earlier, he used it and wrapped Melissa’s body. As he held her hand and grabbed all of their clothes which lay on the sand. They got to an area at the mountain and Leo went in search of firewood while Melissa sat patiently and waited for him to come back. He can back with logs of wood and set a camp, as he lit the wood. The heat from the fire heated their body making them feel warm again, after they were dry, Leo handed Melissa her clothes and asked her to put them on, while he did the same. After which he told Melissa that they have to go back home. “I don’t feel like going back home?” Melissa told him. “We really need to get going, it will soon be morning and your parents will squeeze the life out of me if they find out that I brought you here,” Leo pleaded with her. Leo had always treated Melissa as a Princess, because she is so beautiful and fragile. He has developed this strong feelings for her, but had kept it within himself, because he knew he can’t measure up to her standards. And he is also scared of rejection from her, ever since they were little Leo had never raised his voice at her, and had respected every decision she made. He finds her fascinating and intelligent, which she is. “Please.. would you want me to get into trouble?” He asked her, when he saw that Melissa tried to hesitate on going back home. “Fine,” Melissa said. And handed over Leo blanket to him in anger as she took a step towards the path that led back to the house. Leo caught the blanked and followed her immediately trying to keep up with her, as he begged her not to get angry and smile, knowing that Melissa was angry at him. “You really have to stop frowning, it gives you wrinkles whenever you do that,” Leo teased her. Melissa on hearing that smiled a little not wanting Leo to notice as she kept on walking. They got to the compound and Leo walked Melissa to her room window where she came out from, as he moved the ladder back to the position of the window and waited for Melissa to climb on. Leo held the ladder and urged her to take a step, but Melissa quickly turned to him and gave him a kiss, Leo froze in surprise, as his lips pressed on, he couldn’t reciprocate because at that point his whole body became numb. When Melissa finally released her lips, she immediately climbed up the ladder and slowly crossed her leg through her window as it touched the floor to her room. When she was fully inside, she turned around and looked down on Leo who was still holding the ladder and whispered goodbye to him before shutting her room window. Leo placed the ladder on its position and ran back to his own house as he smocked inside and went to his room.
