Melissa, upon stepping her feet inside her room, was shocked when her room light suddenly turned on. She immediately stopped and turned around quickly and saw a figure standing in front of her. Melissa froze as soon as she looked up and saw her dad. She was unable to take another step as her feet suddenly became heavy. Leo, who was still standing at the edge of the window waiting for Melissa to look down once more for the last time and wave goodbye to him before he could leave, but was surprised when she didn't show her face again, with that Leo tried moving the ladder which was still resting on the window. When he saw a shadow on the floor coming from the reflection that emerge out of the window, Leo quickly raised his eyes upward to take another glance at Melissa's beautiful face as his eyes met Mr Jackson eyes which was filled with rage, Leo immediately left the ladder and ran away. Mr Jackson, who saw that it was Leo the son of his cook, became so angry as he left the widow and walked back to where Melissa was standing and looked her straight in the eyes. "So, you now sneak out of the house in the middle of the night to go be with a boy?" "Do you by any chance know the consequences of what you just did!" Mr Jackson scolded. As he left the room angrily and jammed the door angrily. Melissa knew Leo would get into trouble and was so scared that his dad might hurt him, she quickly let go of her fears and left her room and went after her dad who just stormed out of her room, Melissa was halfway down the staircase which led to the sitting room when she heard her dad on the phone talking to one of the security men. Melissa didn't hear what he told them, but within her she knew it wasn't good and that it was about Leo. "Dad, it wasn't his fault, I made him go out with me " Melissa said as she walked down the remaining stairs to meet her dad who just got off the phone. "Go back into your room, we will talk about this by morning!" Mr Jackson snapped. "What's going on here?" Melissa heard her mother's voice behind her. As she turned around, and passed her mum and went back to her room up stairs without saying a word to her. When she got into her room she locked her door, and went straight to lie on her bed. She tried to catch some sleep but was unable to sleep as she rolled from one end of her large bed to the other before sleep eluded her. "Please let go of him? Dad, please stop them!" Melissa sobbed silently. "Please stop!" Her voice became faint as Melissa opened her eyes slowly as the room became blurred. She was unable to see clearly, Melissa blinked her eyes so her vision could become clearer, as her head began to ache. Melissa placed her hand on her head which hurt as she got out of bed slowly still holding her head, she staggered into the bathroom still feeling very tired and weak. When she got to the bathroom, she looked at her reflection in the mirror, she turned on the tap and splashed water on her face as her mind relaxed. She immediately remembered what happened the previous night. As her eyes widened, Melissa ran out of the room after having a quick bath. She was about getting dressed, when she heard a knock at the door. "Melissa it's me, opened up," Melissa heard her mothers voice, she walked to the door recently to open the door, wondering what her mum would be doing at her doorstep by that morning, Melissa glanced at her wall clock which hung at the entrance of her room and saw it was past seven in the morning. "Hey," Mrs Megan said, entering the room as she looked past her daughter and glanced around the room which looked different to her, that was when she realised that she hadn't been to her daughter's room for a long time "Good morning mum," Melissa muttered. As she closed the door and went back to sit on the couch. "What do you want mum?" Melissa asked, picking up her books which lay on the bed and putting them inside her school bag. "Why would you go out in the middle of the night to be with someone who does not have a future, you don't associate yourself with low classes like his family, for Christ sake, he is the son to your fathers servant," her mum said. "Mum please stop it, when was the last time you came into my room to check up on me? When was the last time we sat down as a family and had dinner? Why does it bother you that I went out with Leo, who is my only friend?" Melissa snapped, as she stood up and went to stand at the window. Mrs Megan was surprised over her daughter's reaction. "You don't talk to me like that, I never want to see you anywhere near that boy called Leo, Melissa you are just seventeen years of age, and shouldn't be sneaking out of the house to go be with a boy in the middle of the night!" Mrs Megan shouted. As she stood up and walked to the door. She stopped immediately and turned towards Melissa again. "Get dressed for school and come downstairs for breakfast," she snapped and left the room. Melissa left the window side as her mind went to Leo, where he might be and what he would be doing by now. She really hoped her dad hadn't asked the guards to punish him. Melissa finished dressing up and went downstairs to the dining hall, where her food would be served. She knew that the driver would be waiting to take her to school soon. She was seated and was waiting for Leo who usually sets the table before his mum who was their cook would come in and serve the food. But was surprised when one of the other maids who walked for them emerged from the kitchen and began to set the table. "Where is Leo?" Melissa whispered to the maid. The maid just shook her head in response, which says she didn't know, as she carried on with what she was doing, Melissa was so worried, because she knew something wasn't right, she can't wait to see Mrs Catherine Leo's mum and ask her after Leo, since she can't go out to check on him by herself and know what had happened to him. The maid left the dining hall back to the kitchen after setting the table, and Mrs Catherine walked in with the bowl of food some minutes later. Melissa on seeing her flashed her a worried look. Mrs Catherine smiled at her, as she began serving the food. Melissa couldn't ask her afterLeo because her parents, who haven't had breakfast with her for a very long time, just walked into the dining room to join her. As they got seated there was tension in the dining hall because Melissa couldn't ask Mrs Catherine about Leo and Mrs Catherine served the food without saying a word.
