Never had home seemed so welcome. Mike followed Kurt inside, Maggie at his heels. After a long discussion with Hubert at the hospital, the decision had been made that Maggie would stay with Mike and Kurt for a few days. Military police would be on guard across the street in case there was a chance the connection had been made between Maggie’s cover identity and the rest of the SPAWAR unit.
It was all suspiciously easy Mike thought, but he didn’t dare press his CO for reasons why she agreed to the plan. She could have almost just as easily put them all in a safe house somewhere or split them up entirely for days or weeks. If Hubert had ulterior reasons, she wasn’t telling.
