Left Behind

Maylyn, finishing her second latte. The moon faded under the rising of the sun and kids already getting out of school. Sighing, she isn’t sure what time Gavin is leaving and because she didn’t bring her phone, if someone is trying to get a hold of her, that’s not happening. This mate bond thing. I want to see him and know more about him. Yet, I don’t understand why I’m so hooked on a guy that is not my mate and left with my x-best friend. I mean. Come on May, how much easier does this get. Not everyone is handed a lemon tart on a silver platter with sides of lemon cookies and a caffe latte. Eyes in a sideways down stare with a smirk. Enjoying the memory of his face and body. “Time to go.”  Arriving at the pack house, “Finally you’re here!” Taken off guard when a pup care worker flushes in relief and ushers to the Alpha’s office. The door opens, her arm almost out of the socket to be pulled inside with the door closing hard behind her. Bowing to Alpha Jase. “Knock that bullshit off Maylyn. Where have you been?” The bow has always been a joke between them. But he is beyond worried. “I went to the coffee shop. What’s going on Jase? I’d like to see my mate before he leaves.” “Its too late. He’s gone and you’re still here. And let me say, he wasn’t happy about that. Why did you leave?” Feeling a small tear in her heart and mind. “He left?” “Yes, Maylyn. He said he told you he needed to leave today. Do you understand what you did by not being here?” “I’m sorry Alpha. I-I didn’t know when he was leaving and I just- what do I do now?" “I’ll send word you have arrived and see what he wants to do. Maylyn, if you didn’t want him, you could always reject him. You don’t need to hide.” “No, no that’s not it. I just needed to breathe- think. I didn’t mean for him to leave or-” “Go back to your family’s home. Await my directions.”  Blinking, still in a bit of shock. “Yes, Alpha.”  Maylyn walks out of the pack house and toward her home. What will her parents think? The mate bond is something every she-wolf looks forward to and she is no different. The Alpha said reject, who would think of rejecting one’s mate. Certainly not her, she just needed to be alone.  Walking in the house. Her mother runs and throws her arms around her. “Maylyn! Where have you been?” “I’m sorry mom. I went to the coffee shop to think. I didn’t know any of this would happen.” “Don’t worry love. Its not like he doesn’t want you. You just need to make your intentions known. Do you know what you intend to do? Is it your intention to reject him?” “No! Why does everyone keep saying that? No, I was planning on leaving with him. I just didn’t know.” “Okay, call him and make him aware. He will tell you what to do.” “I don’t have his phone number. We-we didn’t get that far.” “What did the Alpha tell you?” “Maylyn!” Her dad calls walking in the living room. “Daddy, I’m sorry.” “Don’t worry Maylyn. The Alpha has a way of getting a hold of Gavin and he will advise what to do. Maybe you should pack and be ready; if it’s your intention to be with him.” Nodding feeling a bit desperate. “It is daddy.” He nods and she walks to her bedroom. Sitting on the bed, grabbing her favorite bigfoot stuffed animal. It was always a running joke, you know, things that don’t exist. Laying back on her bed and closing her eyes. This day has been too much for her mind to deal with.  Two days passed and there still has been no word from the Alpha. She hasn’t felt death, aka rejection. Either the Alpha hasn’t got a hold of Gavin or he’s making her suffer before rejecting her. Hearing the knock on the door, by the smell, it’s the Alpha. Jumping to her feet and running out into the living room! “Alpha?” He looks between her and her parents. “Maylyn, we’ve received word from the Kings representatives.” “What? What did Gavin say?” The Alpha’s eyes drift to the bigfoot in her hand. “Really, Maylyn?” Smiling embarrassed, “Yes. It was a joke and now he’s my friend.” “Alpha,” Her father interrupts. “Did you hear from Gavin?” “Yes, I did. He will send a plane ticket for you. If you want to go.” “I’ll go. When?” “The information will be here tomorrow. Be ready.” “Thank you.”
