Chapter 1 Crashing his party
Sierra looked through her wardrobe for the hundredth time, her eyes scanning for something to wear.
She grabbed the first thing her eyes picked, a red dress.
With a small smile on her face, she walked towards the mirror in the room, holding the dress towards her body...
No sooner than three seconds, she shook her head, the smile falling from her face. "No."
Then she threw the dress onto her bed, where at least a dozen dresses had been tossed just like the last one, before returning to her wardrobe.
She grabbed another dress... This time, a blue one, the smile returning to her face. But before she got to the mirror, the smile disappeared, and she tossed it aside again, before letting out a frustrated groan.
"Why don't I have anything to wear?" She cried, returning to her large wardrobe.
Her heart had been beating a bit too fast since she heard the news which was why she couldn't focus. But she didn't expect that finding clothes would be this much of a problem.
"I don't think the dozens of clothes you have left in that wardrobe would agree." A deep voice sounded behind her, his words obviously sarcastic with a slight chuckle towards the end.
Sierra almost rolled her eyes before the person spoke again. "You weren't even invited to the birthday party."
Well...
"I know." She turned around towards the sound of the voice, to reveal an absolutely gorgeous young man who wore a button-down, short-sleeved shirt with the first three buttons loosened and white shorts. He looked as though he was in his mid twenties... The same age as Sierra.
She took a step towards him before she continued. "But he's your brother, and you're my best friend. Of course, I can crash into my best friend's hot brother's party."
Hot?
The guy picked that word from her sentence, but said nothing about it. Because he knew that if he did, she would deny it like she always did.
Sierra didn't notice the subtle change in his expression and returned her attention to the wardrobe before shaking her head.
"Okay... I can't find anything in here, I need more clothes."
Almost immediately, she turned back to look at the guy, her hands clasped in front of her, and a huge smile on her face. "Liam?" She called his name and blinked. "William... The love of my life..."
"I'm not going shopping with you." The young man... William immediately refused without Sierra asking, which made her face fall.
There was no use begging him. Sierra had known her best friend long enough to know that once he refused that quickly, he wouldn't change his mind.
"Fine." She scoffed, before rolling her eyes. Then she put out her hand, her palm lying forward. "Give me an invitation card."
William's eyes narrowed. His eyes darted between his best friend's outstretched palm and her eyes. "What do you want to..." He wanted to ask, but decided against it.
There was no use... She would only lie to him again. "Fine." She shoved his hand into his pocket and brought out a small black and gold invitation card. "Here."
Sierra rushed forward to collect the card from him... His hands grazed hers and William spine stiffened... She was so close to him, he could smell her perfume.
It smelt like...
Fuck.
He immediately took a step back, practically dumping the card in her hand.
Sierra... Oblivious to the changes in her bestfriend, she smiled at the card in her hands, before subconsciously brought it to her nostrils... And a smile crossed her lips.
It smelt like him.
Maybe he sprayed his perfume on it.
She had her eyes closed and didn't notice the glint that passed through her best friend's eyes.
She only opened them after she heard him speak."Sia..." William called her, his tone sounding a bit too serious. "Don't forget about rule ten."
Rule ten...
That snapped her back to reality. She pulled the card away from her nose and hid it behind her back before letting out a nervous chuckle."I know, I'm just... It's just a crush okay, it's not like I'm crazy about him or anything."
That was the type of lie he knew she would say, and she didn't disappoint.
Sierra then waved at him with her free hand, "Okay, bye..." She said in a hurry, indicating that it was time for him to leave. William shook his head at her actions, before standing up from her bed. "I'd pick you up tomorrow morning by seven, the flight leaves by eight."
This was extra information, he had said it before.
"This is one flight I can never miss," Sierra muttered to herself, a small smile forming on her lips. She had been smiling a little bit too much lately because of the ideas that ran through her head.
Tomorrow was the day she had been waiting for for over two decades... Twenty years. There was no way she was missing this flight.
Yell... She wouldn't even be sleeping tonight.
William had his hand on the knob and was about to open the door when he suddenly turned around to ask. "Hey... Sia, have you gotten a response from the company you applied to?"
"No, not yet." She replied, shaking her head slightly.
None of the companies she had applied to in the city had given her a good reply, and all the replies she had gotten so far were rejections. "But I did apply at others just to be safe, I thought you could check it out since we're going there." She added.
By others, she meant the city they were currently heading to. Sierra didn't need to explain it to her best friend before he could understand what she meant.
William didn't prove any further. He only nodded, raised his hand, and waved. "See you by seven tomorrow." Then he left the room.
...
Multiple colored lights and the sound of loud music filled the venue, so loud that Sierra could barely hear herself think.
Why would athirty-year-oldd man throw this type of party?
Well... That was the first son of one of the most wealthy and influential families in the country. Brian Twist.
Sierra tugged at the bottom of her wine-colored dress, which stopped around her mid-thigh. The smile on her face seemed to be frozen on her lips.
Today was the day. She could feel it.
William had left her by the entrance to say hi to a few people he knew. She was finally going to be alone with his older brother and maybe...
The rest of her thoughts disappeared as soon as he noticed him.
The music faded to the background, and her eyes were fixed on Brian, who walked in through the stairs entrance.
His long black hair was brushed to the side, his cheeks were high and prominent, and his lips looked absolutely ravishing.
Sierra's eyes lingered on his lips. She had longed for them for so long...
Brian walked in looking devastatingly gorgeous... With... With lipstick on his neck?
