Chapter 1: Star Pet World(Part 1)
“Brother, time to get up.”
Hmm?
Who’s calling me handsome?
Wait a minute.
I’ve always slept alone. Who’s talking to me?!
Startled, Su Ping quickly opened his eyes and turned his head. The sight nearly scared him out of his wits.
Right beside his pillow leaned a ghostly face with blood streaming from seven orifices, its mouth twisted into a gruesome grin, revealing sharp white teeth.
“Damn it!!”
Shaking violently, Su Ping slapped at it in reflex.
His hand passed straight through the ghost and landed on the soft pillow, hitting nothing but air.
The ghost’s lips curled slightly, sticking out a scarlet tongue.
Horrified, Su Ping scrambled to turn and run, but in his panic, his palm slipped out from under him. He tumbled straight off the bed, face-first onto the floor.
Pain!
Su Ping felt like his nose was about to break, burning with sharp agony.
But the thought of the terrifying female ghost still on the bed behind him sent a chill running through his entire body.
“Mmph… pfft…”
Someone was clearly holding back laughter, but couldn’t contain it any longer. A sudden chuckle came from nearby.
Su Ping flinched. The ghost was laughing?!
“Hahaha… Su Ping, you’re too funny! Scared like this? You’re such a coward!”
The laughter came from the side of the room.
Su Ping froze, then turned his head.
At the foot of the bed stood a pretty young girl in orange cartoon pajamas, bright-eyed and white-toothed, a young beauty. But right now, she was laughing uncontrollably, completely without poise.
What’s going on?
Su Ping was confused. Then he noticed something different about his surroundings.
Most striking was the wall behind the girl: a huge poster of a ferocious monster, apparently from some movie.
This was clearly not his room!
Su Ping never put up posters in his room.
Where’s the ghost?
Remembering the terrifying female ghost he’d left unattended, Su Ping’s heart jolted. He quickly looked back at the bed.
To his surprise, the bed was empty. The ghost was gone!
It left?
Su Ping froze, then let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Suddenly, a black shadow rolled out from under the covers — a black cat.
Rather than “leaping out,” it was more like tumbling out. It was so fat it was practically a round ball.
“Snowball, come here,” the girl called to the cat.
At her voice, the cat’s short limbs flailed desperately until it flipped itself right-side up. It shook itself, glanced at Su Ping cowering on the floor, then sauntered gracefully toward the girl.
Or maybe it was just his imagination, but Su Ping could swear he’d just been looked down on by a cat.
That was when Su Ping noticed something odd: two tiny black horns stuck out from the top of the cat’s head, and a few strands of dark red fur wove through the fur on its forehead, like a flame pattern.
A single question mark slowly appeared above his head.
Buzz!
Suddenly, the space trembled.
Su Ping’s vision blurred. A flood of information rushed into his mind from all directions, slamming into him like a tidal wave.
Su Ping? Su Lingyue?
Star Pets?
Another world?
The chaotic torrent of memories was overwhelming. Su Ping felt his head was about to burst, throbbing with intense pain. He gritted his teeth, barely holding back a cry.
After some time, the storm in his mind gradually calmed. Fragments of memory began to resurface in order along the timeline.
He’d actually transmigrated…
Su Ping felt dazed. No wonder he’d woken up in a strange room, met a strange girl, and encountered a weird cat.
But I was just sleeping at home! How did I even transmigrate?!
Was it because of that little hand exercise before bed?
Su Ping smiled bitterly to himself and began sorting through the memories in his head.
“This is a world similar to Earth, with more advanced technology. It has long stepped beyond Earth into the interstellar era. But it does not focus on technological development — instead, everything revolves around extraordinary Star Pets!”
“Star Pets come in countless varieties and are deeply integrated into human society. Utility Pets handle construction, transportation, daily life, and even scientific research. Interstellar exploration and warfare are the responsibility of Battle Pets. The wars and status of every major nation are even determined by the strength of their Battle Pets!”
“Star Pets…”
Su Ping gradually sank into the memories. The more he learned, the more shocked he became. He finally understood what the ghost he’d seen earlier really was.
