Ray and Ace pulled their Jeep into the asphalt driveway of Autumn’s house. Ace smelled the ground, let out a bark, and wagged his tail.
“Yep, this is Chrissy’s house.”
Chrissy’s high-pitched bark on the other side of the door welcomed them. The door opened before they could knock.
“She’s a great doorbell. Always lets me know who’s here.”
She stood aside, letting Ray and Ace into the foyer, admiring Ray’s physique in his form-fitting gray T-shirt as he moved past her. Ray looked around. Chrissy and Ace rushed toward each other, nose-to-nose, with tails wagging like metronomes on full speed.
