Autumn and Chrissy entered the Knollwood Police Station and went up to the counter. A receptionist sat behind glass with a voice port to enable communication. They were the only ones in the waiting area. Not much happened in Knollwood until recently, despite its proximity to Philadelphia. Gary Martin’s death was the biggest news in the last twenty years, besides the crash that killed her parents.
“Hello. I’d like to speak with Detective Reed, please.”
“And you are?” said the receptionist.
“Autumn Clarke.”
“What is this regarding?”
“The death of Gary Martin.”
The receptionist looked a bit shocked and tried to cover her surprise.
“Have a seat.”
Ten minutes passed before a fit, dark-haired detective with a boyish face greeted them.
“Autumn Clarke?”
“Yes.”
