Another sleepless night. I decide to go to my office and try and do some of the work I haven't managed to get done these past days.
As I get nearer my ears pick up a voice coming from inside my office. It's my father. What on earth is he doing in there at this unearthly hour of the morning? Then I hear him...
"Yes, he had a daughter."
There is a pause whilst the person at the other end speaks.
"Well she was obviously pregnant and you wanted her gone!"
Then he notices me in the doorway.
"I have to go, yes I'll find her, good bye."
I pause then icily ask, "What the f**k was that about? Is it to do with Amaryllis?"
"Son, you don't understand," he tentatively says.
I take the few strides between the door and my desk.
