The villa had a dark grey outer wall and it looked quite depressing. Mira shook her head to shake off her doubts.
The butler of the villa, Oliver Kent, in a vintage tuxedo, was waiting for them at the door before taking them in. Mira and the others quietly lined up and followed Oliver to pass through a long corridor.
Mira was in the middle of the line. When she looked around curiously, she was horrified because she saw some dark oil paintings about Death, the Yellow King, and some creature she couldn't name hung on the wall. This place was a bit creepy.
What kind of person was the owner of the villa?
"Aaaaah!!"
When Mira was lost in her thoughts, she heard a scream from the depths of the corridor!
Everyone was startled and stopped, whispering, "What is that sound?"
"It sounds like a woman's crying... And the sound of whipping!"
Mira did hear the crisp sound of the whip hitting the ground, along with a woman's sobbing.
Oliver cast at them indifferently and said lightly, "Relax. Mr. Smith is punishing the servant who didn't behave. But as long as you follow the rules, Mr. Smith will not make it difficult for you."
They exchanged a look with each other, all silent. Now they had no choice but to follow Oliver forward. When they got to the end of the corridor, they saw a woman dragged out of the room with welts all over. With her head bowed, she apparently fainted.
There was a scent of blood in the air.
"Jees..." someone exclaimed in a low voice.
Immediately after, a man came out of the room. But Mira frowned when she saw him.
The man was in his thirties or forties and looks tall yet incongruous in medieval menswear. He had blond curly hair and a horsewhip under his arm. As he walked out of the room, he was slowly wiping the blood from his hands.
Oliver nodded to him and said respectfully, "We are going to start our work, Mr. Smith. Don't worry. We will hold a perfect party today."
Carl Smith smiled contentedly, but there was still something evil in his eyes, "Very good. Let's get started then, everyone."
Sally took Mira around the living room and said to her, "You're in charge of cleaning this place. Clean every corner and place the vases in order."
Mira frowned and asked, "Am I going to do all this ALONE?"
The vases in the living room were all big and heavy. How could it be possible for her to do it alone?
Sally raised her chin and said, "Yes. The villa is too big, so every one of us has to do a part of the heavy work. If you don't want to do it, you can quit now."
Instantly, Mira realized that Sally did it on purpose. But Mira could not find a better job for the time being and could only obey orders.
After spending nearly an hour cleaning up the corners, she took a deep breath and prepared to deal with those huge vases. She tried her best to lift a blue vase to put it in the right place. But she overestimated herself. The vase was so heavy for her that she couldn't even steady herself.
Just when Mira was trying to put the last vase on the cabinet, the vase suddenly tilted and fell!
It happened so fast that Mira didn't even have time to react. She closed her eyes in fright before the vase was going to hit her head!
But Mira didn't feel pain. Someone pulled her away in time. When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in the arms of a man.
The man was tall and husky, holding her with one hand, and placing the vase with the other.
"Thank... Thank you... Sir, you just saved my life..." Mira was stunned when she saw who it was, "...You?!"
It was none other than Cedric!
Before Cedric could say anything, Carl walked in and laughed, "Cedric, my good neighbor! I'm so glad you made it! You are a hard man to invite..."
Mira's eyes widened in surprise at Carl's words. Neighbor? Cedric also lived here?
No wonder this villa was somewhat familiar to her. She fell asleep on the way to Cedric's villa last time, but she remembered that Cedric's villa was also a gothic building. It turned out that she had really been in this area before.
What a coincidence?!
Suddenly, Carl cast a meaningful look at them and asked, "Do you know each other?" In his eyes, Cedric was too close to Mira, a temporary maid in his place.
Mira's heart sank and she looked at Cedric immediately. The next second, Cedric let go of her and said lightly, "Are you kidding? How could I know your housemaid? I just helped her with the vase."
"Oh, I see," Carl echoed, fixing his eyes on Mira's delicate face. Soon, his face lit up because he found that Mira was actually a beauty, who wore no makeup but had a pair of seductive eyes.
Carl stared at her, finding himself eager to make her pain and hear her scream. He squeezed Mira's chin and scolded, "Don't you have any manners, little one? This gentleman just saved your ass, why didn't you thank him?"
He squeezed her so hard that Mira almost cry.
Cedric reached out and patted Carl on the shoulder, "I wouldn't touch her if I were you. She just cleaned up here. You don't want to get your hands dirty."
As expected, Carl frowned in disgust and let go of Mira, "Fine. You're lucky, little one. Thank this gentleman and get your ass out of here."
Mira was displeased by their conversation, but she knew her place and said respectfully, "Thank you, sir."
Seeing Mira was so obedient, Carl left with Cedric satisfied.
——
It was a big party. Every corner of the villa was illuminated by the crystal lamps. The tables were covered with champagne and exquisite dishes.
After cleaning the living room, Mira went to the kitchen.
"Mira! Get me the beef!"
"Mira, where's the rag?!"
"Mira! Bring the pumpkin soup to table one!"
"Yes! On my way!" Mira whizzed through the work and picked up the pumpkin soup as she walked out of the kitchen,
Sally, who was helping out, heard the other chatting around.
"Mira is much better than the average rookie."
"Mr. Kent has mentioned that he is going to hire some part-time maids. I think Mira is qualified to get a job here..."
"She is diligent and beautiful. If she works here, she might be able to hang out with some rich guys."
Hearing this, Sally frowned deeply. No, she wouldn't give Mira any chances to hook up with the rich! At the thought of it, she picked up a dessert and followed Mira to the living room.
There were several gorgeous gentlemen talking and laughing at table one. All of them had a glass of champagne in their hand, elegant and well-dressed. But when Mira walked over to serve the soup, Cedric was the first one she saw.
She had to admit that Cedric was undoubtedly the best among them in terms of body figure, appearance, or aura.
One of them seemed to be very interested in Mira, and he whistled, "Carl, is this your maid? I like her. Can I borrow her to work at my place?"
His words caused a burst of laughter.
"Come on! You think we don't know what you want? If my memory served me right, you just broke up with your ex for a week. Are you going to find a new one now?"
"Don't talk nonsense. I'm serious... Hey, girl, would you like to come with me?"
Mira was very embarrassed. She pretended as if nothing had happened and did her job quickly before she left.
Sally saw all this and she was devoured by jealousy, "Slutty b***h," she cursed in her heart.
Sally was no longer young and pretty, but she envied Mira for everything Mira had. Mira had a beautiful little face, a curvy body shape, and lots of attention from these men. Out of jealousy and anger, Sally stuck her foot out and tried to trip Mira.
Mira didn't notice it at all, and Betty, who was passing by, reminded her hastily, "Mira, be careful!"
But it was too late. Mira was tripped and she lost her balance, falling forward and dropping the soup in her hands. In the panic, she subconsciously pulled someone beside her, and when she stabilized herself again, a sudden silence fell.
Mira looked up to find Cedric's suit was ruined by the pumpkin soup.
"I'm so sorry!" Mira was so embarrassed that she apologized immediately, "I didn't mean it. I'm so sorry!"
All the men around stopped teasing and laughing, and they eyed Mira pityingly and said nothing.
Carl's voice broke the silence, "You didn't mean it, but you offended my honorable guest." He didn't even look at Mira when he slammed the glass on the table.
"Come with me. We have something to discuss," he said coldly before he stood up.
Sally pushed Mira forward and scolded, "What have you done, you i***t! Go and apologize to Mr. Smith!"
But Mira thought of the woman who was whipped, and she subconsciously believed that she couldn't be alone with Carl. This man was dangerous, and the way he looked at her sent a shiver down her spine. She looked at Cedric and begged, "Sir, please, I really didn't mean it. I'll clean your suit!"
However, Cedric avoided her eye contact and said nothing.
"I'll take care of this gentleman's suit. You go with Mr. Smith right away! What are you waiting for! You're going to screw up the party!" Sally warned Mira in a low voice, pushing her hard.
Mira got nervous with fear showing in her eyes. She had no choice but to follow Carl to his study. But she didn't know that the way she begged Cedric just now had made Carl turn on.
Carl licked his lips without being noticed, wondering how beautiful she would be if she beg him in the bed later...
