I Am Married

Chloe did not believe she could get to see her father again as there was no way she could go in to see him, nor could he come outside to see her. Chloe felt thankful to Adrian as she held her father’s hand. She wouldn’t have reunited with her family if not for what Adrian did.

“Where’s Nathaniel?” Chloe asked, looking around for her big brother.

“He’s already at home arranging some of the things that have been transferred home earlier,” Mr. Blackwood said, disentangling from his daughter’s hug.

Chloe walked up to the car that brought her down to the station and knocked on the glass. The driver immediately winds down the window to hear what she has to say.

”Can you take us to the Blackwood’s’ mansion?” Chloe asked.

“Sure ma’am,” the driver replied.

“You can go now,” Mr. Blackwood said to the truck driver carrying the remains of his property.

“Ma’am?” Mr. Blackwood asked, raising his eyebrow at his daughter. “Who is he?” Mr. Blackwood asked.

”I will explain everything when we get home, Dad, but for now, just get into the car,” Chloe said, getting into the car before her father.

Mr. Blackwood got into the car after Chloe, as the driver drove to the Blackwood’s’ mansion at the speed of light. A few minutes later, the driver stopped in front of the Blackwood’s’ mansion as Chloe and her father got out of the car while the driver sat back patiently waiting for her return.

Chloe and her father walked into the mansion holding hands and smiling like newlywed couples. Before they got into the house, Aunty Celine, the housekeepers, and her big brother had tidied everywhere, making it look like something had been moved away from the house twenty-four hours ago.

“Aunty Celine!!!” Chloe screamed immediately she saw the housekeeper about to enter the kitchen.

She had only been away for a day and it felt like two weeks already. Aunty Celine pulled her into a warm hug and she immediately reciprocated the hug.

“Where have you been since yesterday that you left home? I was dead worried about you,” Aunty Celine said as she held Chloe’s soft hand.

“Ouch!!” Chloe exclaimed, pretending to be in pain with the way Aunty Celine held her hand, so she could avoid her next incoming question.

Mr. Blackwood chuckled from where he was standing staring at the trick his daughter had just pulled with their housekeeper. Aunty Celine has been working as a housekeeper for the Blackwood’s’ family for the past fifteen years. She was employed shortly after Mrs. Blackwood passed away, and Chloe was just while Nathaniel was twelve years old then, and also staying in the boarding house.

Aunty Celine had since filled in the place of Mrs. Blackwood in Chloe’s heart, but Mr. Blackwood was just too busy to notice that. Mr. Blackwood was happy as he looked around and all his properties had been returned to their normal position.

“Let me get you all something to eat,” Aunty Celine said, walking back to the kitchen while Chloe and her father walked towards the dining table.

“Where is Nathaniel? I thought you told me earlier he was at home?” Chloe asked, pulling out a chair for her father.

“Maybe he stepped out to get something,” Mr. Blackwood responded

There was silence for a few minutes before Chloe decided to speak up and table the matter before her father.

“Father, I know who dug up dirt on you. It is no other person than Marcus’s father,” Chloe said.

“What?” Mr. Blackwood exclaimed silently.

“How did you get to know?” he asked.

“It’s a long story, Dad. I overheard it from Marcus himself, but I just don’t have any evidence to prove that you are innocent.

Marcus’s father will soon be exposed and as for Marcus himself, we are no longer dating. He’s just like his father. I caught him cheating on me with Lila yesterday,” Chloe said with pure hatred evident in her voice.

Chloe’s heart was beating loudly as no number of words could describe how much she hated them at that moment. Chloe didn’t hide her pain with the fact that she was seated with her father.

“I really like the fact that you broke up with him,” Mr. Blackwood said, patting his daughter’s back.

“Chloe, back to what I asked you at the police station. Why did that man refer to you as ma’am with so much respect and who is he?” Mr. Blackwood asked as he curiously stared at his daughter.

“I am married, Dad,” Chloe said.

“What? How did you get married? Who got you married?” Mr. Blackwood shouted.

“Who the heck are you married to?” Nathaniel asked, interrupting their conversation. All eyes immediately shifted in his direction as he walked over and joined them.

“I am married to Adrian Blake, Marcus’s uncle and that’s one of his drivers,” Chloe said.

“What the heck? Are you kidding me right now? Do you mean the same Adrian Blake that we all know in this country, or a mere peasant who bears the same name as him?” Nathaniel asked, furiously.

“Yes Nat, it is the same Adrian Blake that we all know,” Chloe responded, nodding her head.

“When? How did you meet Adrian Blake? He’s known to be a no-nonsense and ruthless person. I will never agree to you marrying someone like him, not under my watch.

There are millions of men out there who are willing to marry you and give you a peaceful lifestyle,” Nathaniel said, hitting his hand on the glass table.

“Dad,” Chloe said, pointing at Nathaniel, but Mr. Blackwood didn’t respond to her.

“I want you to pick up your phone now and tell him that you want a divorce immediately,” Nathaniel said.

“I can’t do that Nathaniel. I can’t divorce him,” Chloe said.

“Why can’t you?” Nathaniel asked.

“He’s the reason all your properties are back in good condition. He’s also the reason all allegations falsely laid against you have been dropped,” Chloe said, pitifully while pointing towards her father.

“Chloe, did you marry him for my sake?”

If only he knew that she married him for his sake?

Wait, what if her father and only brother reject the marriage because their only daughter, who is Chloe, is not happy in her marriage?

Will she tell them it's based on contract?

At this point, I'm scared for Chloe because she isn't aware of the consequences of not giving birth to a son for a famous billionaire CEO.
