Chapter two: Aurora’s POV

1191 Words
I stormed out of my father's office, my eyes blazing with anger and confusion. I couldn't believe what I had just heard. What just happened in the office was something bad. He shouldn't have talked back at my father like that. It was unthinkable. As I burst out of the office, I saw him walking down the hallway, his back to me. I quickened my pace, my heels clicking on the marble floor. "Hey!" I called out, my voice loud and demanding. "Wait up!" He stopped and turned around, his eyes meeting mine. For a moment, we just stared at each other, the tension between us palpable. "What did you mean back there?" I asked, my voice low and even. "When you said I belong to you?" His expression didn't change, but I saw a flicker of something in his eyes. Amusement? Arrogance? I couldn't quite tell. But what I did know was that he didn't answer me. He just stood there, looking at me with an unreadable expression. My anger boiled over, and I took a step closer to him. "Answer me!" I demanded. "What did you mean by that?" He still didn't respond. He just kept looking at me, his eyes seeming to bore into my soul. I felt a shiver run down my spine, and for a moment, I forgot to breathe. There was something about this unnerving man, something that made me feel like he could see right through me. And then, without saying a word, he turned and walked away, leaving me standing there, feeling frustrated and confused. I walked back into the office angrily, I needed a full explanation of what was going on. Father refused to say anything which got me more pissed off throughout our drive back home. But am not some girl who is willing to let things go just like that. I stormed into the living room, my father walked to the bar stand and poured himself a drink as he went back sitting calmly on the couch, a glass of whiskey in his hand. I could feel my anger boiling over, and I didn't care if I woke up the entire household. "Dad, what is going on?" I demanded, my voice loud and shrill. "Who is that man, and why did you speak to him as if he's some kind of savior?" My father sighed, setting his glass down on the coffee table. “Aurora, calm down. Let me explain—" "Explain?" I cut him off, my laughter bitter. "You think you can just explain away the fact that you've been keeping secrets from me? That you've been dealing with some mysterious stranger behind my back?" My father's expression turned stern, but I didn't back down. "Aurora, I told you. Jaxon is a business associate. He's here to help us with the company—" "Help us?" I scoffed. "You mean help you? Because from where I'm standing, it looks like you're in some kind of trouble, and you're using this Jaxon person to bail yourself out." My father's face turned red, and for a moment, I thought he was going to explode. But then, he seemed to deflate, his shoulders sagging in defeat. “Aurora, I-I don't know what to say. You're right. I have been keeping secrets from you. But it's all going to come out soon enough. Just-just trust me, okay?" he said I felt a pang of uncertainty, but my anger and frustration won out. "Trust you? You want me to trust you? After all the lies and secrets? No, Dad. I don't trust you. And I'm going to find out what's going on, no matter what it takes." With that, I turned to walk out of the room as what he said next made me stop in shock. “You are getting married to him, Aurora.” He repeated. I walk closer to him “Marry? Was that what he meant I am his?” I asked as I watched him nod his head in the affirmative. “You sold me out to a total stranger? Someone I have never heard you talk about.” I said “He isn't a stranger, Aurora. He is my boss, he is_” I cut his words short as I throw the wine glass to the wall “I DON'T f*****g CARE!” I screamed as tears rolled down my eyes. “I'm- I'm sorry. I didn't want this either” he said as I could see a pint of tears drop from his eyes. I felt so weak and helpless seeing this. “Explain everything to me,” I said slowly “He loaned me some money which I used to put into an investment that didn't go well. I even had to take some from the housing department to clear off other debts without his knowledge.” He replied. “How much are we talking about here?” I asked as I felt so much pain inside me. “A hundred million dollars” he replied with his head bowed down. I let out a bit of laughter as I stagger to climb the staircase. My younger sister walks into the living room, looking at us as I ignore her. “What's going on here?” She asked “Your father just sold me for A hundred million dollars” I replied as tears rolled freely down my eyes. “It wasn't intentional,” he said as Ava stared at me in shock. “SHUT THE f**k UP!!” I screamed as I felt my breath seizing. I kept hitting my chest as I gasped for air, and more tears rolled down as my sight got blurred with my breath beating faster than ever. I struggled to open my eyes as I could see a man standing close to the window, with his back turned to me. I whine in pain as I struggle to sit upright “I need a glass of water.” I demanded but was replied with an amused look from my enemy. “What are you doing here? Where is my father?” I asked as I stared at him. “I can see you lack some manners, even in your sick state of health. Anyway, rest for some time. We are going home” he replied “We? What do you mean by 'we’?” I asked with a surprised look. The door opened as my father walked into the room with Ava whose eyes were red. It seems she has been crying for a while now. “Father! What is going on here? What does this stranger mean by 'we’re going home?” I asked “I'm sorry, darling. I already signed the contract, he paid your bills already so you are going home with him” he said I look at him for a while before bursting into laughter, a laughter that carries loads of pain. I looked at him expecting a laugh from him too, for him to tell me he was joking but the look on his face was the opposite. “Wait! What?”
