Chapter three: Jaxon’s POV

1036 Words
A few weeks passed by, and I got married to Aurora who had no choice but to accept the marriage. It is always funny to me whenever I remember her words. “I am not accepting to be your wife, I am only going to be with you for the main time as I work to pay you off the debt. So stay clear out of my business.” She said as I watched in with so much amusement. Snapping out of my thoughts, I smiled to myself as I walked into the kitchen to get something to eat as we lived our separate lives. I turned back just to see her as she stood in the kitchen, her arms crossed over her chest, as I leaned against the counter, a smirk on my face. “What's up with the escapades you have been having?” She asked. "I don't see what the big deal is," I said, my voice low and even. "I'm not hurting anyone." "The big deal?" She repeated, her voice rising. "You're bringing strange women into our house, Jaxon. Women I don't even know. And you're doing it right under my nose." She added I shrugged. "So what if I am? It's not like I'm hurting you or anything." "That's not the point," She said, as I could sense her frustration growing. "The point is that this is my home too, and I don't want to see a parade of women coming in and out of here every day." I raised an eyebrow. "You're not exactly in a position to dictate what I do, Aurora. This is my house too, remember?" "I'm just saying that it would be nice if you could keep your conquests to yourself. Or at least have the decency to take them to a hotel or something." I laughed, a low, husky sound. "You're worked up about this, aren't you?" I said, my eyes glinting with amusement. I saw her face heat up with anger. "I just don't want to see it, okay? Can't you just respect that?" I pushed off from the counter, as my movements were fluid and graceful. "Respect?" I repeated "You want me to respect your wishes? That's rich, coming from you." I added "What are you talking about?” She asked looking so confused. My eyes locked onto hers, my gaze burning with intensity. "I'm talking about the fact that you don't even care about me, Aurora. You don't care about what I do or who I do it with. So why are you so worked up about this?" She stared blankly at me as I watched her struggle for words but before she could respond, I turned and walked away, leaving her standing alone in the kitchen, feeling confused and frustrated. I walk into the living room as I rest my head on the sofa, I hear a few steps climbing the stairs. The bigger door opens wider as I perceive the strong scent even with my eyes closed, I know who it is. I stood up to greet him properly as he sat on the couch. “What would you like to take, father?” I asked “Well, A red wine will do as we talk about the business on the ground. I hummed in affirmation as I got the drink ready. As I sat in the living room, sipping my scotch as I discussed business with my father. He was going over the latest numbers, and I was listening intently, trying to make sense of it all. "I'm telling you, Jaxon, this is the way to go," my father said, his voice filled with conviction. "We need to expand our operations and take more risks. That's the only way we're going to stay ahead of the competition." I nodded, taking a sip of my drink. "I agree, Father. But we need to be careful. We can't afford to take on too much debt." My father waved his hand dismissively. "Don't worry about that, Son. I've got everything under control. You just focus on running the company, and let me handle the finances." “That reminds me, Your sister will be coming back from the States. When she arrives, I want you to put her through in the company's communication department. She will be of good use there.” He added “Okay, what about our deal with the other group? You know how cunning and greedy they can be. I wouldn't want them to take us unaware, you never can tell what they are up to. I just have a bad feeling something isn't just right.” I replied “Don't worry about that, focus on the company as I said earlier. I will handle them too.” Just as we were getting to the good stuff, I heard the sound of heels clicking on the floor. I turned to see Aurora walking towards us, a polite smile on her face. "Hello, Mr. Shadow," she said, extending her hand to my father. My father stood up, a warm smile on his face. "Ah, Aurora dear, it's so nice to see you. Please, call me father." She smiled and nodded, taking a seat next to my father on the couch. I watched her, feeling a pang of annoyance. She was being so polite, so perfect. It was almost like she was trying to impress my father. I was about to say something to her when I heard the sound of the doorbell ringing. My father got up to answer it, and I turned back to her, who was sipping a glass of water. But before I could say anything to her, I heard my father's voice, loud and clear. "Ah, Sophia, darling, it's so nice to see you." My heart sank as I turned to see Sophia, my ex-girlfriend, walking into the room. She was smiling, her eyes fixed on me, and I could tell she was up to something. I felt a surge of anger and anxiety as I watched her approach us. What was she doing here? And what did she want? As Sophia's eyes locked onto mine, I knew that this was not going to be good.
