The fantasy mirror

Luna's POV

I walked up to Mark who was now standing beside Daniel. "I want to go back home now" I commanded.

"Huh? What about the shopping?" Daniel asked.

" You can bring the clothes home later, I just want to go home" I pleaded. My body was already shivering, this was the effect of the mirror.

"Luna are you okay?" Mark asked, tensely.

" Yes.. take me home" I said walking out but paused when I noticed that Mark wasn't coming. I turned back to see him still standing with confusion clearly written on his face.

"Mark" I yelled, bringing him back to his senses. He quickly hurried outside and I followed suit.

" Pack all this up and send it over to the house" I heard Daniel instructing the lady in uniform.

We got to the parking lot and hopped into the car. Mark ignited the car's engine and drove off. My eyes were already reddened as beads of sweats formed on my forehead.

Mum please just give me some time, please. I prayed.

"Are you sure you are okay?" Mark asked for the upteenth time.

"No..I mean, yes. Can you please stop asking me any question?. I just want to get home" I begged.

He let out a sigh and stepped on the brakes as the car sped off.

After what seemed like forever, we finally got home. As soon as the car came to a halt, I pressed a button on the car's door and it cracked open. I hurriedly stepped out and banged the car's door.

Oops!

"What's wrong Isabel? Why are you in such a hurry" Mark asked, again.

" Everything is fine" I replied, rushing towards the mansion.

I rang the doorbell but there was no response. It's an automatic door and since my face wasn't registered, I had to make use of the doorbell.

Please open the door please.Mum mustn't get to me now or everything will be ruined.

I rang the doorbell again.The door cracked open and without wasting any second, I rushed into the large foyer.

"Good evening miss" The maids greeted.

"Good evening"

I hurried past Sarah who was seated on the couch and receiving a massage from one of the maids.

"Hey! Did you not see me? " Sarah barked.

I climbed the stairs, totally ignoring her. Just then, I heard mum's voice from afar.. " Luna"

I frozed.

The glasses in the foyer began to produce tumbling sounds.Oh my world! Mum was really close.

"What the hell is happening and why are the glasses making such sounds? " Sarah exclaimed.

This isn't happening. I forcefully pushed my quivering legs up the hallway until I got to my room. I pushed the door open and stepped in breathing heavily.

I quickly locked the door from behind and fell to my knees, facing the large dressing mirror.

Immediately, there was a sudden flash of lightning and mum appeared on the mirror. She still looked beautiful as always with her crown majestically placed on her head.

"Greetings Queen mother" I stuttered with my head slightly bowed.

"How dare you take such a heavy decision without consulting me? " Mum yelled causing fear to go through my spine.

" I... I'm sorry mum.. I didn't tell you because I know you wouldn't agree to it"

" Do you know the consequences of your actions? " She spoke, a bit calmly.

"No mum but I will gladly bear any punishment as long as Mirabel will be fine again"

" Don't be stubborn Luna " Mum shrieked. " I want you to return back to the kingdom now and your punishments will be reduced"

" I am sorry mum but I can't. I have to complete this mission of activating the lotus flower, my mind is already made up" I said, solemnly.

" This is all that stupid seer and Dina's fault. They should be blamed for this. I wonder what they have told you to make you abandon your position and embark on such a heinous journey"

"No mum. They have nothing to do with this. I was the one that implicated them, so I should be the one to be punished"

Mum heaved a sigh. " Looks like your mind is already made up"

" Yes mum..I am really sorry" I pouted my lip.

She hesitated. " Okay fine. I don't really believe that the healing power of the lotus flower can be activated using a human's blood but If you insist, I will grant you seven lunar nights to prove me wrong." She declared.

I blinked my eyes in shock.

" And if you fail to accomplish your mission before the time elapse, you will have to come home. If you try to resist, I will be forced to send my warriors to come get you" mum added.

I raised my head.

Huh? Seven lunar nights?. But that is like ten months in the humans world. Like how in goodness sake am I supposed to accomplish my mission within such a short period of time?

"Seven lunar nights?" I repeated in disbelief. "It's too short mum"

"My mind is already made up or would you prefer just giving up now and come home." she fired.

"Okay mum. I will try my best to hasten my plans.Thanks for your consideration and understanding"

"Is this where you stay?" Mum rolled her eyes.

" Yes" I nooded my head slowly.

" What? But here is too lowly for a head princess like you" she exclaimed, running her eyes through the room.

"I know mum..but it's okay"

"It must really be tough for you. And the humans? Hope they are treating you fine?"

" Yes mum. humans are kind creatures and they have many exciting objects here and good foods too" I grinned.

" Good to hear. If you are in any form of trouble, don't hesitate to call me okay?"

" Yes ma'am"

"And don't take this as an opportunity to forget about all that I taught you. You are on earth but you must never forget that you are a head princess.. Speak, dress, act and walk like a noble" She instructed.

Here we go again. Don't do this, don't do that. " Yes mum" I replied, indifferently.

"And don't eat too much, a princess must always be fit and healthy" she added.

I nodded sheepishly.

"Finally, You must never fall in love with a human. Your bethroted husband is already patiently waiting for you. Once you return, I will get the both of you married"

I hesitated and finally muttered. " Yes mum"

It was weird. I wasn't really excited about the bethroted marriage unlike before. I guess it is because I don't love prince Liston, I only agreed to the marriage just to make mum happy.

And there is nothing I can do about it. I am bethroted to Liston and I have no choice than to marry him.

"Are you still bent on fulfilling this mission or have you changed your mind?"

" No mum..I will be fine" I forced a smile.

" If you say so.. Good bye head princess, do take care of yourself"

Head princess? Why so formal?. What stops her from using sweet words like darling instead of head princess. I guess her royal rules prevents her from doing that too.

" Bye queen mother" I replied but she has already vanished . "Here we go"

I heaved a deep sigh of relief.

Just then, I heard a cracking sound coming from the dressing mirror. Before I could think of what to do next, the mirror splashed to the ground.

Oh my goodness!

This must be the effect of the fantasy mirror and mum's visit. I closed my eyes as I rubbed my forehead warily. Mark is not going to spare me

"Luna, are you okay?" Mark said knocking on the door.

" Mark " I muttered with widened eyes.

"Isabel are you fine? Please open the door" I heard another voice. It was Daniel's.

What should I do?. What will I tell them? Those two won't stop asking until I give them a reasonable answer for all these.

"Open the door now or I will break it open" Mark threatened, banging heavily on the door.

Ugh. I guess I'm doomed. I sighed depressingly and slowly walked towards the door. Still thinking of what to do next, I unbolted the door to behold the worried face of Daniel and Mark.
