Episode 3
Luna's POV
Jessica walked through the hallway while I followed suit hoping my room wouldn't be far from Mark's. We finally stopped before a door.
"This is your room" Jessica announced, smiling.
"Where is Mark's room?" I inquired.
"Directly opposite yours" She chuckled, pointing to a door opposite mine. A smile crawled across my face as I let out a deep breath of relief.
Jessica turned on the door knob and it turned open to reveal a large room. Some maids were busy putting some things in order.
"What do you think of the room?" She asked as we both walked in.
"I love it" I nooded softly.
"Of course you would. Do you know that you are the first lady that my brother has brought home after many years?" She said excitedly. I blinked my eyes, wondering if I was supposed to jump in excitement or keep quiet. I ended up just forcing a smile.
"Please feel at home. Since you didn't come with any clothes, I have transferred some of my clothes to your wardrobe, if you need anything do let me know."
" Thank you" I replied. I can't believe that grumpy governor has such a sweet sister. Why is he so different?.
"Do you like my brother?" Jessica suddenly whispered.
"What? Hell No. Why would I love someone like that? So rude and scary" I complained.
She burst out laughing. " I know right? But it's amazing. You are the first lady to deny having feelings for my brother and speaking of him in such manner to my face"
Looks like I'm the first in all things. Who knows? I might also be the first lady to beat the hell out of her all loving brother.
"Oh. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude"
"It's okay. My brother can be grumpy sometimes but he has a good heart." She softly spoke. " Do have a nice rest" she gave me a warmth smile before leaving.
As soon as she left, my smile swiftly turned into a frown. I know she is being nice but how could she give me her already worn clothes. I'm a freaking princess for crying out loud.
I sat tiredly on the couch as I ran my eyes around the unfamiliar environment. I miss everyone, my home, my kingdom, my throne. I wonder how my sister could be fairing. And mum? How would she react when she discovers that I was gone. If only I knew that my decision to leave would cost me this much, I would have reconsidered.
I closed my eyes as I ran down the memory lane.
Things were going all smooth till when my sister fell badly sick that I was left with no other option than to leave for earth.
I have been preparing the maidens for the coronation night. It is a tradition for the chosen maidens to be trained by the head princess, the first sister of the prince. And unfortunately, I am the head princess of the Mycons kingdom, the land of fairies. It is really tiring being one.
"Tell the maidens that the dance session is over" I whispered to Akin, my right hand man.
He nooded his head and moved over to the maidens.
"The princess said you all can go home, the dance session will be continued tomorrow" He announced.
" We bid the princess farewell" The maidens chorused with a slight bow and I nodded. They gracefully walked out of the practice room in one file, swaying their buttocks.
These are the maidens which luckily were selected as candidates for the king's bride. My brother, the crowned prince will be celebrating his twentieth birthday in the next twelve moon nights and according to the custom, he would be coronated as the king and also choose a bride from the candidates.
It is usually said that the maiden who manages to win the Prince's heart with her dance steps would become his wife.
The stoned jiya gown which hung tightly from the maidens breast region to their knees and the unique grey painting on their flawless skin made them looked special and different from other maidens.
The music of the local waist beads and sound of the anklet bead could be heard as they slowly disappeared from the hall.
I had to end the training session earlier because I wanted to visit Mirabel, my younger sister. She is sick and news had gotten to me that she just suffered another attack . I stood up and walked over to mirabel's room with my maids following suit. I got to the door and my right hand man, announced my presence. "Princess Luna, the head princess is here"
After a while, the curtains split open. I was about plodding in when I noticed that my maidens were coming along. I paused and turned to them with furrowed brows.
"Wait for me here" I ordered and walked in.
Those sly ladies. I am sure they must be looking for a way to lay hold of any news which they could gossip with. That's what they are best at, afterall.
" Good day, beloved princess" The maids who were attending to Mirabel chorused with a slight bow as soon as I walked into the huge room.
"Good day" I forced a smiled. "You all should wait outside" I added as I sat on the bed where Mirabel laid and they all scurried outside after a bow.
"Nene, you're here" Mirabel weakly said, smiling. She usually calls me Nene. It's our native word for elder sister.
"Please forgive me. I was not here yesterday, when you needed me the most" I sadly said, running my hands through her hair. She looked so thin and sick, seeing her in that condition made my heart broke into thousand pieces.
"Don't blame yourself. I am fine" She forced a smile.
"No you are not! You and I both know that you are you not fine" I snapped. I let out a deep breath as I tried to bottle up the frustrations that I felt. " I have failed you as a sister, I can't even find a way to cure you, please forgive me" I cracked.
"Please don't say that. Maybe, this is my fate. To be sick and live a miserable life" She said with teary eyes.
Mirabel was not like this before. She was very healthy and strong from birth.
Her sickness is as a result of the terrible mistake she made two years ago.
