Mark's POV

I was still sleeping when I felt a splash of water on my face. I flung my eyes open and to my chagrin, the step witch stood close to the bed with an evil smirk on her face and a cup of water.

I hissed and tried to stand up but stopped when I came in contact with Luna's face. She was sleeping peacefully in my arms and snoring like a pig.

I slowly took her head and comfortably placed it on the bed. I would have loved to continue staring at her innocent face but this was a wrong timing.

I jerked up to my feet as I shot Sarah a dead glare. "What do you think you are doing? Huh? What exactly is your problem?"

" Problem? I don't have a problem. If trying to wake up two parasites who has vowed to continue feeding off my back a problem, then you are wrong" Sarah replied, indifferently.

" Parasites?" I repeated in disbelief. " Did you just call me a parasite?"

"Yes I did. Not just you. I mean you and your beggar friend"

"Sarah " I yelled and raised up my hand to give her a hard slap across her face.

Yes. I don't care anymore about my Dad's threats anymore. It's okay to insult me but I can't stand and watch this w***e use foul words on the only person who had stood by me when others left me hanging.

" Stop it Mark" Luna growled,making me stop halfway. " Have you lost your mind? What do you think you are doing?"

I turned to look at Luna who was already on her feet. She has been awake all this while?. " Did you not hear what she called you? "

" Yes I have ears. And she is right. We are both parasites"

" What?" I asked, confused.

" Why? Does it hurt? Then start working! What else do you call someone who stays at home all day without contributing anything" Luna sneered.

I blinked my eyes in shock. I couldn't believe my ears. I was trying to defend her. How could she take their side over mine?

"I'm sorry for that. He did not mean to raise his hand on you" Luna apologized.

I clenched my fist in anger.

"Tsh! I like you. Looks like you are a lot smarter than your boyfriend" Sarah whined with a tight lipped smile.

"What do you want " Luna asked.

"I am here to take my house rent"

"House rent? What do you mean by that?" I asked, confused.

" What kind of a question is that? This is my house, including the room and everything in it. You have been using it and it is time to pay"

" What do you mean by it is your house. This is also Mark's house" Luna interrupted.

Sarah burst out laughing. "I thought about this too but then, I remembered that Mark had cut all ties with us and that makes him a stranger. Unless he wants to reunite with us again"

" Never. I will never have anything to do with any of you" I said through gritted teeth.

Sarah shrugged. " That makes my work easier then. Pay up your rent"

" And how much is this rent?"

" Since you're just like a son to me, i will only take one thousand dollars".

"What? That is a huge sum of money! Where will I get such money from?" I asked.

" That is none of my business. I need the money now or you leave the house"

" What? " I exclaimed.

"You heard me right"

" Please don't this. Mark doesn't have any money or do you want to send us packing to the streets?" Luna cried.

"That is exactly what I want. I want you guys to go to the streets where you belong"

" Please don't do this" Isabel whimpered.

" Stop it Luna! Don't beg her.."

" Is this not what you want? To make me suffer. So be happy that I am begging because if you don't want this then you would have agreed to start working" Luna yelled as tears welled up in her eyes.

Seeing those tears drop from her eyes, caused a pin prick my heart. I clenched my fist, struggling with the guilt that washed over me. It hurts so much to know that I'm the reason why she is being humiliated and yet, there is nothing I can do about it. Nothing at all.

Ugh. I hate the helplessness I feel right now. It is really killing me.

"Please ma'm..I will do anything you want but don't throw us out of the house"

" Anything? Fine! I will give you guys some time to gather the money but on one condition"

" Just say it.. "

"You will have to act as my maid till today is over"

I raised my eyebrows.

"Have you gone mad?" I half yelled, staring at her with fury.

"Don't shout at me or I will change my mind" The step witch rolled her eyes.

" You can change your mind or not, I don't give a damn but she will never agree to your stupid condition ."

" I will do as you say" Luna suddenly declared.

" What?" I turned to her, shocked.

"Good girl! Let's begin with a soft massage on my head. I will be waiting for you downstairs" Sarah giggled, walking out.

"Don't do it Luna.Please" I begged, holding unto her hand.

"Okay fine! I won't do it. So do you have the money? "

" No.. I don't.. have the money" I stuttered. "But I will think of something."

"Something like what?" She fired and snatched her hand away from mine. " Something like watching us being thrown out to the streets? If being a maid to that witch is the only way to avoid us going to the streets, then I will gladly do it" She turned to leave but I stopped her again.

" Please Luna don't do this please.. you look like someone who is from a rich family, you can't do this" I insisted.

" If you really care then start working" she snapped and walked out, banging the door behind her.

I let out a groan as I ran my hand through my hair. Sarah has just crossed all the limits today. She snatched everything from me and now she wants to snatch Luna too. I hate you Sarah! I really do.I will make her pay for this humiliation someday.
