Chapter 1 Are You A Whore, Grace?
"Who would blind date a girl in a hotel room instead of a café?" Grace mumbled as she stepped out of the elevator. She double-checked the text message and knocked at the designated room. The door swung open with a "click." "Sorry, I'm late." A smile froze on Grace's face as she entered the room. The door was dimly lit. The light in the hallway illuminated a figure. He was six-foot-two, sturdy, and had a steely glare in his narrow, black eyes. The familiar figure just reminded Grace of a nightmare deeply buried in her memory. ''It is you!'' The two of them uttered at the same moment. Grace instinctively took a step back. It was supposed to be Mr. Tristan, her blind date today. How come she ended up with Landon Hayden? She took a glance at the number on the door. The text message told her it was room 1308, but she found herself standing at the entrance of room 1388. "Sorry, wrong place," she quickly apologized. Grace was ready to walk away when a large hand grabbed her shoulder. His fingers were cold and rigid, like steel claws, and they tightened quickly. "What are you, Grace? A w***e?" "Watch your mouth." Grace slapped the man in the face. This smack was loud in the silent passageway. Landon Hayden's eyes narrowed. He suddenly pressed Grace against the wall. Chills ran down Grace's spine as if the temperature in the room had dropped several degrees. Grace shook with pain in a cold sweat. The man's bony fingers pinched into her shoulder. Grace tried to push him away. She twitched hard and bit him on the forearm. She tasted blood instantly. Landon Hayden didn't move, and neither did he frown. He just stared at her blankly. "What's your price, Grace?" Grace let go of him. She snorted, "10 million dollars." A hint of anger rose in Landon's eyes. He looked at her with contempt. It was the money that she was after. He had read her correctly from the beginning. Grace's mocking voice came into his ears as he was about to speak. "I'll never f**k you even if you pay me 10 million dollars. Go f**k yourself!" Just then, Grace heard footsteps coming from the corridor. Before she could look back, Landon Hayden had scooped her into the room like a kitty. "Landon Hayden! Don't you dare to touch a hair on me! I'll kill you!" Grace twitched and kicked like a wild cat. "I'll never touch you even if you were the last man on earth! You son of a b***h!'' A knock came upon the door. Grace stopped and stayed still. She needed a chance to escape, and she waited. Landon Hayden stared at her for a few seconds to ensure she wouldn't move before opening the door. "Landon Hayden, this is the 'employee' of Starry Entertainment. What do you think?" Summer, Landon Hayden's assistant, knew he was not interested in girls. However, she had to because she was paid to do so. It caught her off guard to see there was already a girl in the room. A girl! In Landon Hayden's room. Landon even placed his arm on her shoulder, which meant they were close. The agent sent the "employee" girl, so Grace should be... Landon realized that he had misunderstood Grace. However, why would she come to the hotel alone in the middle of the night anyway? "Young lady, you'd better go get some aphrodisiacs. He was a bit..." Grace said as she put her arms around Landon Hayden's waist. "He is impotent," she added, brushing her fingers over the man's belt buckle a few times. Landon's face turned pale, and his eyes narrowed. Grace let go of him, tugged at her crooked collar, and walked out without looking at anyone. Summer gulped and was surprised at Landon's silence. By the time Landon had regained himself, Grace was already in the elevator. "I'll get her, Mr. Hayden." Summer shoved the "employee" girl next to her. The girl stumbled. "Get out of the way. What are you expecting? A ride home?" Summer rushed upstairs and returned with her phone. "Mr. Hayden, you got a call from home! Young Master Xavier is missing." Grace's home Grace had no idea a kid would show up at her door. He had a round face and big, crystal-clear eyes. He c****d his head when he saw Grace. So adorable! The boy sneaked in through the door before Grace could open it. "I'm tired. Please allow me to go inside and relax for a bit." He sat on a little stool with his back straight and his hands on his knees. Grace felt peculiar toward this kid, and she couldn't stop staring at him. Nowadays, you can no longer tell the difference between a boy and a girl by looking at them. "What's your name, little girl?" She asked purposefully. "I'm a boy. You want to check it out?" replied the little one, zipping up his jeans. "No, of course not!'' Grace pulled two cans of coke from the fridge, put a straw into one of them, and handed it over to the kid. "No way. My father's weenie is the ugly one. It is covered with hair." Grace almost choked on the coke. She wiped her mouth. "What's your name?" "Xavier." The boy took a sip and licked his lips. His eyes opened wide, "What is it? It is yummy." He finished the coke in a matter of seconds. "You never tried a coke before?" Grace gave him another can with a smile. Xavier slowed down on the second can of coke, his wide eyes peering out at Grace. Grace sat on the couch. "I can see you were staring at me," she said with a smile. Xavier slowly walked up to her and hesitated for a second, blushing. "Can I touch you?" Grace sat up and replied, "I'm expensive." "Ten cokes for a touch?" "OK, you are lucky." The boy put his drink down, rubbed his fat palms on his clothes, and scooped her face up as if she were a precious gem. His eyes were crystal clear and watery. There was something special in his eyes. Unlike other five-year-old kids, Xavier looked cunning. Grace's heart was beating fast, and a wave of emotion washed over her. She reached out and wrapped her arms around Xavier gently. Xavier moved further up Grace's thigh, wrapping his arms around her neck. ''No one likes me. Everyone says I'm a bastard child. They told me I was retarded." "But I am clever," he claimed, pointing toward his head and pouting his lips. "I just hate stupid games." Hearing his words, Grace suddenly felt sorry for the little boy. He must have gone through a lot before learning to comfort himself. "Xavier, from now on, I will protect you. You can turn to me whenever you have trouble.'' Xavier shook his head, then stared Grace in the eyes and said, "How about you being my mom?" "I..." Grace was thinking of having a godson instead. Xavier had no such knowledge. ''Would a hundred cans of coke make the deal?'' Grace didn't say anything. "Two hundred cans." Still silent. "Just name your price," Xavier insisted, "I promise you will be paid well!"
