Chapter 1:Sign Of Peace
The elders in the courtroom stared intensely at the young lady before them, muttering words to themselves. "I am Princess Aquila from the Blue Moon pack." Silence engulfed the noisy courtroom after Aquila introduced herself. All eyes fell on her with curiosity in them. "Who do you say you are again?" Alpha Maverick asked, leaning against his throne. Aquila glanced at him, seated on the throne with scorn. It was because of him she was being dragged here like a slave. The Nighthawks have been in a battle with her pack, the Blue Moon pack for a long time now. The only solution the Alphas could think of was an arranged marriage. But, she was forced here against her will. She never wanted to be here, getting married to the rumored cripple prince. That was an utter disgrace to her dignity! "I said, Princess Aquila of the Blue Moon pack," she repeated. Alpha Maverick burst into a peek of laughter making everyone stare at him like he was a lunatic. "You're Aquila, the daughter of the weakest Alpha," He said amused. Aquila frowned deeply. " Don't take me for a weakling, young man. My family is not weak, so mind your tongue!" She said. Aquila won't take that from him. How dare he insult her family in such a manner?! Alpha Maverick might think everyone is scared of him but one thing he didn't know and she had to make it clear to him was that she wasn't scared of him and she never will be. The whole court gasped in shock, staring at her. No one has ever spoken to the Alpha in such a manner. She was bound to be whipped for sure. The shock on their faces increased when the Alpha giggled. "Feisty? I like you," he said with a sly smile on his lips. Aquila exhaled releasing her clenched fist, she flashed him a smile and made to get started with why she was being sent here. The sound of the huge doors opening accompanied with the squealing sound of a moving wheelchair diverted everyone's attention from her to the person who just entered. "Oh, it's good you're here. Meet your new bride, Princess Aquila," Alpha Maverick said with a mocking tone. Princess Aquila spun around sharply almost immediately Alpha Maverick completed his statement only to behold the terrible looking male on a wheelchair. "Can my day get any worse?" ~~~ " Dad, why did you call us here?" " He sent a letter…" Alpha Manuel began. Princess Aquila and everyone in the court looked up at him, waiting for him to complete his statement. Alpha Manuel exhaled deeply, staring at everyone before he continued; " You all are aware of the letter I sent to him, asking for the war to be over." " Go on, we know." " Good! He wants one of my daughters to get married to the prince as a sign of peace." Silence was the next thing that followed after Alpha Manuel spoke, everyone fixed their eyes on him waiting for the next sentence he was to speak. Princess Aquila stared at her father, wondering why he looked perplexed at the whole thing. Just choose a daughter and let peace ruin. Why all the unnecessary drama. "You think it's easy?" Alpha Manuel said, reading her thoughts. Aquila hung her head low, she had forgotten her dad could read everyone's thoughts except they had learnt the act of putting an obstruction. "But still Dad, there is no need for this meeting. Just choose a person and send." Alpha Manuel furrowed his brows at her statement. " I don't blame you, Aquila, you are not a parent yet so it's quite easy for you to speak the way you do." " His request sounds ridiculous and stupid to me if I must say," Princess Aquila said. " Enough!" Her father's voice roared and echoed in the room. "Enough already!" He wasn't the type to scream at his family but he was fed up with Aquila's selfishness. She was too self willed. "Do you like the way my people die everyday? Do you like seeing them suffering because their loved ones are dying everyday in their numbers?" No one said anything more. None of his daughters agreed and their mothers weren't ready to give them away either. Who in their right mind would want to go to the Nighthawk's pack? "I, Alpha Manuel, would make the ultimate decision of who to send there. Do you understand?!" He said and everyone remained calm waiting to hear what he had to say. Alpha Manuel took in deep breaths, closing his eyes before reopening them immediately. It wasn't an easy decision but he had to make a decision. "According to the letter, he wants her before sunset tomorrow." " Princess Jasmine, you are more mature and old enough to get married, so…" " Father!" Princess Jasmine snapped rudely at him, getting up. " Let me finish!" He snapped back. "You can't send me off to be a wife to a crippled prince against my will. I will not go!" " Yes! Jasmine isn't going anywhere. She wasn't the cause of the war. If anyone was to go anywhere it would be Princess Aquila," Lady Megan, Jasmine's mother said. Princess Aquila stared at the duo with hatred in her eyes. They were only doing this because she had no mother to support her. "You both don't have a choice here, if I must say. Whatever I say stands!" "And I say, my daughter isn't going anywhere." Alpha Manuel gave a stern look, shutting her up immediately. "Are you trying to go against your Alpha?!" He yelled at her. " No, but—" " And I say, Princess Jasmine goes whether you both like it or not." " But father, what about Princess Aquila? She is the strongest here so she should be the one leaving." " I said you will go, not her. Who's the eldest?" Jasmine had no response. " Good! So you will go. This is the end." " No father! It's not possible. I have a mate!"
