August clutched her lifeless child to her chest, the weight of grief crushing her as she stared at Becky and Mateo. Her mind was a whirlwind of confusion and pain, each word and action from Becky and Mateo cutting her deeper. "What happened to my son?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper, choked with emotion. Becky's expression was a mask of unreadable guilt, her eyes avoiding August's gaze. Mateo, on the other hand, looked indifferent, his cold demeanor adding fuel to August's raging emotions. "I didn't do anything," Becky finally said, her voice hollow with remorse. "It was an accident." August felt a surge of anger and sorrow at the words. "An accident?" she repeated, her voice rising. "You killed my child, and you call it an accident?" Mateo remained silent, his gaze fixed on August. She could see a flicker of something in his eyes, a hint of guilt or remorse, but it was quickly masked by indifference. "I trusted you," August said, her voice trembling with rage. "How can you be so calm? She killed your son," she said, looking at Mateo. "He is not my son!" Mateo raised his voice, the words bursting out with frustration. He then lowered his tone and repeated, "He is not my son, and it was an accident. I saw it myself," his voice now cold and detached. "What do you mean he is not your son?" August asked, her confusion adding to her pain. "I had a DNA test done, and it came back negative. I am going to make preparations for his funeral," Mateo said, avoiding eye contact with August as he stood up. "Stop," August screamed, her voice filled with desperation. She took out the pocket knife Jamal had gifted her and pointed it at her wrist. "Call the police right now and report your little girlfriend for murder, or you might as well prepare my funeral also," she said, her voice trembling with anger and grief. Mateo turned back, his expression unreadable. "This isn't the first time you're doing this. We know you're not going to die. While you're at it, you might as well cut yourself deeper this time," he said, his words cutting deep into August's already wounded heart. "Let's go, Becky," he said, and she followed him out of the living room. Just as they left the room, a sharp scream pierced the air, causing Mateo to stop in his tracks. "Do you think she hurt herself for real?" he asked Becky. "I'm sure she didn't. You know how she is, don't you?" Becky said. "Yeah, let's go," he replied. "You know what? You go ahead. I am going to check on her, just to be safe," Becky said. "Okay, thank you," he replied. As Becky entered the room, she saw that August had already cut herself. "Well, well, well, look who we have here, the almighty August. But why do you look so pathetic?" she asked rhetorically. "Why did you kill my child?" August grunted in pain. But instead, Becky laughed loudly. "You want me to tell you a secret?" she said, coming closer to August's ear. "I killed your mom as well as your dad." August's eyes widened. "What do you mean you killed my dad? My dad is alive and well," she said, shaking her head crazily as she tried to stand up. "Well, I gave you sleeping pills two days ago, and you were asleep for a whole day. While you were enjoying your sleep, I killed your dad with the same poison I used on your mom," Becky said, smiling brightly. "They are going to be together forever. Don't you like that?" she said, removing the hair from August's face while August stared at her, shaking with anger. "Yes, speaking of pills, the pills you gave Mateo were not sleeping pills but aphrodisiacs," Becky said as August's eyes widened. "Do you know why I went back that day?" she said, her face lighting up. "I went back into the room and I left my ID in his room. And when we met at your wedding, I pretended that he r***d me, and you set me up with him so that you could say he was with you instead." She said, as August tried to slap her, but she fell down, already weakened from losing too much blood. "I'm so enjoying this, if i had known i was going to get this reaction from you, I would have told you sooner", she laughed loudly.
