*Aeogon's POV*
I was riding the normal route through the town's roads when I noticed something unusual. A young woman who looked about my age was approached by some men.
She slowly backed away from them and it meant she was in trouble. I was hesitant to do something about it at first but later gave up to help.
They all suddenly ran off. I went after them quickly and soon caught up with them. She came to an abrupt stop and stared at my horse, breathing heavily.
“Climb on if you want to get away from them.” I said and stretched out my hand to her. She reluctantly grabbed onto it and I pulled her up.
“What do you think you're doing? She's ours, we found her first you Little thief!” One of the men said sternly.
I ignored him and rode off on the horse. She held me firmly as we rode away to avoid falling. After getting far away from the Town.
We stopped by a stream and both got down from the horse. “Thank you for helping me...” She said, panting heavily.
I ignored her and walked to the water. The water felt warm as I watched my face in it. “Why did you help me? Do you perhaps know me from somewhere? Or there's something else?” She asked.
“Do not flatter yourself. Something in me pushed me to do it.” I replied bluntly.
“Oh okay. I'm Seraphina, what's your name?” She asked. I stared at her for a while. Her eyes seemed quite familiar but I surely haven't met her anywhere before.
I sighed and walked to my horse. “ I'm Aeogon. I think we have something in common.. ” I said as I mounted the horse.
She stared at my white Hair. “Yes, why is your hair also white Aegon?” Seraphina asked.
“You do not actually expect me to know the reason I was born with this. It's obvious you don't know yours either, so why would you think I'm any different. I already told you we're alike.” I said sternly.
I shook my head and was about riding away when she held my booth. “Wait, I need your help with something else.” She said meekly. Her eyes looked so pitiful and I could barely think of any other option than to accept whatever she wanted.
“What do you want?” I asked.
“I need to get to the Palace. There's someone I must meet there.” She said.
I was quiet for a while. Maybe we really did have more in common than I thought. Without any future hesitation, I asked her to mount the horse which she gladly did. We rode away from the stream and headed for the Palace.
It didn't take too long to finally reach the Palace. I halted at a safe distance and Seraphina alighted. “There you go. The palace is right in front of you.” I said, pointing at the Gate.
“Thank you so much Aeogon. How can I repay you for everything you've done for me?” Seraphina asked with a broad smile.
I smiled faintly and slowly rode away from the Scene. The beauty of the Palace caught my attention as I rode away. “ I'll be back for you, someday...”
Staring back, I could see Seraphina still watching as I rode away. I quickly rode off to Avoid attracting any attention.
*Seraphina's POV*
I watched and waved as the gentleman rode away on his horse. My face beamed with a smile as he soon went off my sight.
After taking a deep breath, I slowly approached the Gate. There were two guards and they both stared at me as I emerged.
“State your business here young lady.” One of them said sternly. He was so sudden that I lost the words to use for a moment.
“Erm, I need to see this person.” I said and stared at my palm. It finally dawned on me that the name Astrid gave to me on a paper had fallen off long ago.
I stared around, trying to check if it's nearby. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it. The guards were both so confused as to why I was acting so oddly..
“I need to meet someone named...monzy?” I said Meekly. They both stared at each other, trying hard to hold in their laugh.
“We will need to ask you to vacate the palace's premises if you do not have a valid reason you're here. ” One of them said sternly.
My heart was beginning to throb in fear now. I had gone through so much to get here, just to get sent away like a Dog.
The guards grew tired of asking me to leave. They immediately drew their swords and approached me slowly.
A woman looking older than me, suddenly emerged and stopped them. “She is with me. One of the new Royal maids...” She said with a faint smile.
“Monica...” One of the guards said with his Fierce voice.
Monica tossed a gold coin at him and pulled me away from them. We both went into the palace afterwards. The palace was so huge, way broader than I had expected.
There were Royal maids and guards roaming everywhere. Many parts of the buildings were just so noisy.
We both headed to the maid's quarters. In Monica's room, she sat me down and sighed. “ I am so glad I followed my hunch and decided to check the gate. Would have definitely missed you.” She said,
I was quiet. She grabbed a big Comb and some dye. “Firstly, we really need to do something about this hair. It's very eye-catching and everyone would notice it. We wouldn't want you to stand out too early right?” She asked.
“Will we change the color of my hair?” I asked meekly.
“Of course. How else will we keep your identity concealed from the people here if we do not do that?” Monica asked.
She went ahead to dye my hair a dark color. Checking myself in the mirror, I looked so different now that even I could barely recognize it was me.
I have had the color all my life and was so used to it.
