In which suspicions arise

The dress was standing out to me, from the other displays. Looking beautiful. It was stunning, it was black sleeveless and had a folded cutout at the bottom. I think I ran faster than the Flash when I saw it. Walking into the store, hearing the bell ring from me opening the door. Alerting the person in the desk.
I made my way up to her, telling her about my need for the dress in the showcase. It was perfect for this date err, I mean business dinner. It was like fate. She asked for my size, I let her know. She walked away to get me the dress I desperately needed. I stood idly looking around, bouncing at the balls of my feet. Waiting for her to come with the dress.
With that being said she came from the corner. Holding the dress in a plastic suit cover. She handed it to me. She let me know where the fitting room was. The lady I"d say was in her fifties she had blonde hair that was starting to gray. She wore jeans with a black jacket. Looking real classy. I chuckled, walking into the dressing room and closing the door behind me. The click of the lock was heard. I turned and sigh.
I peeled the clothes I had on my body. Folding it and putting them on the wooden bench used for sitting. I took the dress out of its plastic shielding. I put it on and stared at my reflection in the mirror.
I was lively full of it actually. I was full blown happy. For the first time in a while. I don"t know if it was because of Lucian and this business dinner or just the dress that made me feel beautiful. The article of clothing hugged my body tightly and ended mid thigh. I felt good, beautiful, and sexy. I don"t need a man to make me feel this way.
My blue eyes shone with glee. I took my hair tie out of my hair, and let my hair cascade down from my shoulders to the middle of my waste. I felt like I could do whatever I wanted too without having any sort of restraint. I guess me and this dress were meant to be.
I discarded it and put my original outfit back on before walking out to pay for it. I placed it on the desk where the lady stood. She scanned it. "I know it isn"t any of my business, but is this for- you know a date?" I don"t know what to say. yes or no.
"Sort of, I should know shouldn"t I?" She giggled. "You know this young man you have this "date" with will be the luckiest man." She emphasized "date" with air quotations. The dress was handed to me. I let out a small "thank you" and left.
I drove all the way to my house. Opening the door and putting everything I had bought away. Until the last thing, which was my dress. I started to get ready because, I had not noticed that time had flew and it was almost time for- whatever it is.
I took a quick shower. Drying myself off with my towel. And started to get ready I changed into my outfit and put on a few accessories. I put on very natural makeup, so I don"t look like a horse. I grabbed my hand bag. When I was satisfied I went downstairs and that"s when the doorbell had rung.
I do not think I can do this, act like nothing happened. Be like long, lost, old friends that just found each other. I opened the door. There he stood as handsome as ever. His hair was styled and his suit was cleaned and polished, not one single piece of dust on his suit or hair out of place.
I started to feel self conscious when he stared me up and down. I fidgeted with the hem of my dress and then my fingers, because I for one didn"t want to mess up my outfit and look any worse. "You look breathtaking." The self doubt and bad thoughts that flooded my mind have been drained out by that single statement. It felt amazing to know that I was presentable. Not that I cared.
"You don"t look so bad yourself." I felt a little confidence begin to flare up. We hopped into his car. When the car roared to life he went on to put on some music. I needed to ask the question that has me so pent up. "What is this?" He turned his head to look at me, confusion sparked in his eyes. I probably could have worded that better. "I mean, why would you invite me for this? This relationship, where are we." He seemed to understand where I was coming from.
"Like I said this is strictly a business dinner only. As far as us, I don"t really know anymore." I was going to say something but he had cut me off. "When I saw you up in that building in danger. I felt emotions I never felt in my life and I feel that there is still something between us still. I may be considering that maybe you are telling the truth." My heartbeat sped up. The palms of my hand became sweaty and clammy.
Again I was cut off by the sound of a phone. He took it out of his pocket and answered.
"Alessandra." His gruff voice spoke through the device that was attached to his ear.
My heart sunk.
