One moment I was reading a novel, the next I was bleeding out in a hospital bed.

When I finally opened my eyes, a devastatingly handsome man stood over me.

"Well," he scoffed, his voice dripping with contempt. "You got exactly what you deserved, Megan."

That line...

I knew exactly who this asshole was.

Ethan Miller. The male protagonist of the novel I'd been reading.

Somehow, I'd been transported into the book as the character Megan—my namesake—currently girlfriend to the illustrious Ethan Miller.

The original Megan had been obsessed with Ethan since high school, chasing him relentlessly for five years until he finally "granted" her a relationship. After two years together, despite his rise to Hollywood stardom, he'd never once acknowledged her publicly. In fact, he went to extraordinary lengths to keep her hidden.

And the original Megan, conditioned to accept scraps of affection, not only tolerated this treatment but actively helped him maintain their secret.

Until recently.

Ethan had starred in a hit show with rising actress Ashley. Breaking his usual "no publicity relationships" rule, he'd actively fueled romance rumors with Ashley, whipping their fans into a frenzy.

Meanwhile, when paparazzi caught the original Megan with a phone background featuring her and Ethan together, he publicly denied even knowing her, throwing her to the wolves. For a month, she weathered abuse online, labeled a "delusional fangirl."

Yesterday, she—I—was stabbed by an obsessive fan of Ethan and Ashley's on-screen relationship.

That's when I arrived in her body. Just in time to catch a knife to the gut.

Tears welled in my eyes.

"What, crying with regret now?" Ethan leaned down, roughly gripping my chin, his smile cruel. "Didn't see you crying when you deliberately revealed that phone background to force me to acknowledge you publicly, did I?"

His girlfriend gets stabbed by his fans, and instead of showing concern, he's here placing blame. What a spectacular piece of garbage.

I struggled to breathe. "No, it's not that. You're standing on my IV line."

Ethan faltered for a moment.

An opening!

With strength I didn't know I possessed, I shot upright and slapped him hard across the face—once, twice, three times. I followed with a flurry of kicks and punches before grabbing the trash can and slamming it over his head. With one final kick, I sent him stumbling out of the room.

Door shut. Locked. Mission accomplished.

I crawled back to bed, clutching my reopened wound, wincing in pain but grinning with satisfaction.

Much better.

Outside, Ethan's furious voice thundered, "MEGAN! GET OUT HERE RIGHT NOW!"

Always with the commands. The original Megan's love had been so desperate that Ethan knew she'd never leave him, which gave him license to treat her however he wanted.

He banked on her devotion. Unfortunately for him, before being transported into this book, I'd been his biggest critic—I'd literally written essays about what an entitled, manipulative character he was.

Karma's a b***h, I guess.

But no matter. Since I'm here, I might as well raise hell.

I yanked open the door and stared calmly at Ethan.

He smirked, as if he'd expected this. "I'll overlook your little episode since you're clearly still affected by the medication. In a week, Ashley and I are appearing on a reality show together. You'd better behave yourself. This incident should have taught you—"

"Sorry to interrupt," I cut him off mid-lecture. "I forgot something important."

Ethan's eyes darkened with annoyance. "What did you forget?"

I delivered a swift kick to his stomach. "I forgot I already gave you a chance to leave!"

From the moment I realized I was in this book, I'd made up my mind. Life's too short to play by someone else's rules.

Ethan roared, "MEGAN!!!"

Which is how he got himself reported for disturbing a hospital and escorted out by four security guards.

I returned to my bed, munching an apple with satisfaction, mentally recapping the plot.

After the stabbing incident, Ethan and Ashley would appear on a dating reality show together and receive glowing reviews. The original Megan, consumed by jealousy, would spiral into villainy, driving Ethan away for good. Eventually, Ethan and Ashley would fall in love on the show, and on the day they announced their relationship, Megan would be fatally attacked by their rabid fans.

What a delightful ending. Too bad the wheel of fate was about to take a sharp turn.

Episode 1
The notorious Ethan Miller—the man who supposedly couldn't be bothered with Megan—stood at the entrance of her apartment building, his face partially concealed by a cap and mask, though nothing could hide the fury in his eyes. "You want to break up with me?" he demanded. Megan casually brushed her bangs aside. "Wasn't my text message clear enough? Don't tell me you're here to beg for a second chance?" "Oh—" Ethan suddenly laughed, as if understanding something. "I get it now." "You've finally realized how boring your personality is, so you're trying something new to make me interested again. Unfortunately, you've chosen the wrong approach." He narrowed his eyes with disgust. "This behavior only makes you more repulsive." *Click!* A camera flash went off as Megan snapped a photo of him with her phone. Ethan froze, instinctively reaching out to grab the device. Megan deftly ducked under his arm and quickly tapped at her screen. Within seconds, Ethan's phone began ringing. His manager's voice came through, panicked. "Ethan! There's a situation on Twitter!" Ethan immediately checked his phone. Megan had just posted a tweet: [@Megan]: Anyone missing their dog? Come collect him, please. Attached was the photo she'd just taken of Ethan. "Me-gan!" Ethan seethed through clenched teeth. He looked up only to see Megan's retreating figure as she sprinted away. His anger exploded. "If you walk away now, don't ever think about getting back together!" Hearing this, Megan ran even faster, adding a dramatic slide to disappear completely from Ethan's sight. Ethan laughed bitterly. "Fine, fine, fine!" "Don't come crying to me when you want to get back together!" ... Two days later, news about Ethan and Ashley appearing together on a dating reality show flooded Twitter. It seemed deliberately timed for Megan to see. Their shipping fans celebrated wildly, not forgetting to mock Megan in the process. [@BrightStar123]: The power couple is going on a dating show while someone's still acting like a clown. [@BunnyLover]: She even photoshopped that picture claiming Ethan went to her place. Does she actually have delusions? [@SneezyGirl]: When you think about it, she's pretty pitiful. Destroying her own reputation and acting crazy for Ethan's attention, yet he completely ignores her, then announces a dating show appearance. That's a straight-up slap to her face. [@EthanAshleyForever]: Ethan's obviously doing this on purpose—powerfully defending his future wife and driving the crazy woman mad! The reality show, titled "Human Love Observatory," knew exactly how to promote itself. They announced Ethan and Ashley as participants when the EA couple's popularity was at its peak, while keeping the identities of the other four participants secret. This secured both immediate buzz and sustained suspense. While the shippers celebrated, viewers also speculated about the remaining four participants. With unprecedented anticipation, the day of the premiere finally arrived. As the name suggested, "Human Love Observatory" was an observational dating show. Several male and female participants would live under the same roof. During this time, they would face various experiments prepared by the production team, showcasing the most authentic chemistry between men and women. The show streamed live, allowing viewers to send real-time comments. As soon as the premiere began, viewership skyrocketed. [@User1]: Here we go! [@User2]: I'm waving the flag for the EA couple! Who dares challenge them? [@User3]: I heard there are mystery guests. Is that true? [@User4]: Wait, why are all the participants wearing masks? Indeed. This was the show's first twist. The six participants were each seated in separate luxury cars, heading to the filming location. All of them wore masks equipped with voice changers. They would completely conceal their identities—no faces, no voices—relying solely on soul-to-soul connections for their first meetings. The male participants wore: Panda mask, Tiger mask, and Fox mask. The female participants wore: Rabbit mask, Peacock mask, and... a Dead Fish mask. The Dead Fish mask certainly stood out in an awkward way, but to be fair, this wasn't the production team's intent—the participants had chosen their own masks. [@User5]: LMAO, I want to know which genius chose the Dead Fish mask [@User6]: That's actually clever strategy—choosing something that stands out makes you memorable. This Dead Fish isn't simple [@User7]: Holy s**t, the Panda guy's physique is incredible! Those shoulders, that narrow waist, those long legs—I'm dying! [@User8]: Ashley's fan club is called BunnyLover, so the Rabbit lady must be Ashley! I'm crying! [@User9]: With that body, Panda must be Ethan, right? While viewers speculated about identities in the comments, the PD distributed questionnaires to the participants in their cars. "This is an ideal type survey. Please fill it out sincerely. We'll assign your first dating partner based on your responses." Under the Dead Fish mask, Megan smiled confidently. Everything was proceeding exactly as in the novel. The only difference was that she—who originally wasn't supposed to participate in this dating show—was here. Her reason for participating was simple: she wanted to have some fun with a man. Her favorite character in the novel was the second male lead, Jason Thompson—a 6'1" athlete with six-pack abs who was absolutely incredible. Unfortunately, in the novel, Jason fell for Ashley on the show, was used by her, and met a tragic end. Megan had decided to join the show herself to capture Jason's heart and secure her happy ending with the handsome athlete. Six-pack abs! Here she comes! After the participants completed their surveys, professional psychologists analyzed the results and drew conclusions. Rabbit Lady's ideal type: A gentle, well-mannered man who can be assertive at times. Peacock Lady's ideal type: An emotionally stable, clean, and respectful man. Dead Fish Lady's ideal type: A 6'1" athlete with six-pack abs. [@User10]: Wait, one of these isn't like the others [@User11]: LMAO! Just straight up "6'1" athlete with six-pack abs"! [@User12]: We're literally the same person! [@User13]: Girl, please delete this. I'm actually embarrassed for you Even Director Mike, who had seen it all, was left speechless. Although he'd anticipated that inviting this troublemaker would create entertaining content, he hadn't expected it to be quite so... direct. He was now slightly concerned about the show's future boundaries. "We've assigned your first dating partner for today." The car stopped in front of a romantic beachside restaurant. The PD smiled, pointing the way: "Please head to the beach. Your date is already waiting for you." After getting out of the car, Megan fell into deep thought. A beach restaurant? This didn't seem right. From what she remembered, Jason Thompson had been assigned to the garden restaurant for his first date. Her ideal type perfectly matched Jason Thompson, so she should have been paired with him. Had she misremembered the details?
