Who are you?

Alissa I stood there for the longest time, wondering how much life had come to this. I watched them disappear up the stairs with Nate's hand on Gloria's waist possessively and wished for the upteenth time that the ground would swallow me. A woman came around just then, her eyes filled with pity. I recognized her as the head of housekeeping from the few times I had come into the pack house. Meridith. She had always been a bubbly woman, but tonight, she looked at me with so much pity and sympathy. I honestly didn't need that. "Let me help you with your bags, child." Meridith said, and moved to pick them but I bluntly refused. "I'll handle them. Just show me to my room please." I told her. The truth was, I really needed to hold on to something so I would not break down. Lisa had been restless and unsatisfied since we had gotten home, and anytime form now, I knew she was going to burst through. I didn't want that. Not now. Meredith looked like she wanted to object, but nodded and gestured for me to follow. "The Alpha's main quarters in on the other side, and the servants quarters is down below." She said, and while I didn't care about Nate's quarters, I wondered why we weren't going down to the servant's quarters. "Shouldn't we be going downstairs then?" I asked when she took a left turn and made her way down a hall that looked completely different from the rest of the house. "Oh, this is where the Alpha asked that you should be put." There was no trace of a smile on her face like she had on earlier. Instead she looked a bit weary. There were only two door in the hall way, both opposite the other and Meridith pulled out her key and inserted it into the one of the doors. There was a distinct scent that caught my attention, but Meridith spoke, distracting me. "This will be your room." She said, walking in and pushing the door open wider. I followed her inside, half expecting the room to be bare and resemble a staff quarter, but surprisingly, it was almost as exquisite as my bedroom at home. The only difference was, it lacked colour. "Are you sure this is my room?" I asked, uncertainty dawning inside of me. I had been brought to work as a maid. This looked nothing like a maid's quater. I stood at the door, unsure of whether to enter or not. "It is your room, and I would get settled in if I were you, because you have an early day tomorrow." The smile was back on her face. I swallowed, and stepped inside, taking in the room. "It's not my place, Alissa, but you really do have to be patient. I know things didn't turn out the way you wanted, but please, be patient with him." I said nothing, and that was because I had nothing to say. I could only stare back, mulling over her words in my mind. Like hell was I going to have anything to do with him again. One year. That was how long I had this place and I would be free to mate with whoever I wanted to mate with. At this point, I wasn't even sure I wanted to be mated anymore. Once she left, I sat on the bed and buried my face in my hands. In just one day, I had gotten humiliated by the man I loved. Watched him bury his tongue in someone else's throat, watched him get mated to someone else, and stood as I was made to serve them. What had I done to be deserving of such fate? My head pounded and I sat up, reaching for my hand bag. Nothing. I turned around to check if I had placed it on the bed, but found nothing. It was after searching for a full minute that I noticed I hadn't even brought up a last suitcase. I really should have let Meredith help me. I walked to my door, pulling it open and with my other hand pressed to my temple as the pounding inscreased, made my way back down the stairs. My vision blurred a little at the bottom of the stairs. Sure enough, the bags were where I had left them. I grabbed both and slowly walked back up the stairs. By the time I reached the hallway, I had pretty much lost most of my vision and just turned the knob my hand landed on. The first thing that hit me as I staggered into the room, was the sweetest scent ever. I distinctly remembered encountering it before. But where? When? I couldn't even hold my bag again and just let it drop to the floor as I followed the scent. It became more pronounced, and I inhaled, feeling it seep into my nostrils and straight to my head. Heat instantly spread through my body. My whole body jolted awake immediately with a burst of energy I couldn't explain, and I opened my eyes to see that I was in a dark room. Had I turned off the light when I left? And what was that scent? My mouth literally watered, and I took a step forward, my legs continued moving on their own accord in the direction the scent was coming from. Just then I felt a very prominent presence, just as a hand wrapped itseld around my throat, and I was pinned to the wall. A whole hard body was pressed against me, and a knee was shoved between my thighs, spreading them apart. "Who the f**k are you? And why the hell, are you in my bedroom?" The voice was rich, and deep, and the body it belonged to, was obviously the origin of the scent. "Uhmm.." I could only gasp, my palm flat on the wall behind me as I questioned my fate again for the unpteenth time that day. Was this how I died? "I said...who the f**k, are you?" The man with the drugging scent spoke again. This time, his tone rougher. Surprisingly, when I opened my mouth to speak, I realized his hold wasn't that tight around my neck. "Alissa. I'm Alissa." I managed. He seemed to still, and then sniffed me. What? My eyes intantly flew open. I hadn't even realised I had closed them. That was when I met a glowing pair of red eyes staring right back at me. I didn't get the chance to do anything else before he released his grip and pulled away from me. "Get out of my room." Like I needed to be told twice!
