Fate meets Faith

All the seminars, competitions and events all added up to the increase in the urge to get known. His plan was perfect. It was as explicit as get home, get busy, get online, get known. This plan took a very big turn and change when the news spread that IFK Comprehensive would be hosting summer classes for students.

Of course, this was a normal event every summer, even IMK Comprehensive does the same. This year, it was different, it was very different as the principal of IFK decided to open their doors to male students. (never done before).

When Leonard got this information, they had already vacated for the holidays and had not planned anything as a group. This was a very big hit to him. He was as excited as he was also very scared.

He was not a people person. Leonard was a very shy guy whenever he was around the female gender. He had not planned towards being present in the midst of these girls.

All his plans revolved around the social media platforms and his android device. At first, he considered not attending and continuing the online plan.

It then hit him that those who would be there in person would have all the fun to themselves and those who think they are doing things online would just waste their time as the online part of that summer class would be continuations to whatever happens inside the classroom.

He had two issues after resolving to attend. The first was the tough one( getting his mum to be cool with it) and secondly the outfits to wear on a regular.

It was on a Monday, the Monday after the vacation from school. Leonard was very excited and anxious, because he had not planned on what to tell his mum with regards to the lesson at IFK Comprehensive. It would have been if it was at his own school because his mum would not suspect any foul play or intentions.

An idea came to him. He was going to make it happen in the least time as possible. He had it all planned in his mind within seconds and he moved out to perfect it. He quickly took a shower, had clean clothes on, picked a book with his pen and headed for the door.

On his way, he told his mum he was going to attend a lesson programme. He said it in a way that would attract the least possible chance of being questioned by his mum. He was fretful when he told her. To his utmost surprise, his mum just gave him transport fare and bid him goodbye.

He rushed out immediately because he suspected that if he wasted time, the inevitable question would come. He quickly opened the door, ran out and happily boarded the next taxi to IFK Comprehensive.

He arrived and was never scared. For the first time in his life, he was to see the girls of IFK Comprehensive and would be seen for the first time. He got down from the taxi, went into the compound through the gates and was amazed by the aesthetics of the compound.

It was way beautified than IMK was. He spent time looking around and created a scene as some girls stared at the guy who was behaving in an unusual manner. He noticed it and stopped quickly. Shame was all he could think of at this point.

He had not even gone into the class but he had behaved stupidly outside. It got worse when he was showed the class where his mates were in.

He went straight, as he moved, a quick swipe of shiver moved through his body, he was unaware of what he would see and as well afraid of messing up on the first day.

He reached the class, looked in and could only see female faces. He froze, at that point, goose pimples appeared on his hands and feet and he wondered where he would sit in the midst of females.

He greeted the teacher,a thousand thoughts ran into his mind.

“Is this an interactive class ?,will I have to introduce myself?, what if I am asked to sit in between two girls?” All these happened in nano seconds as he swiftly navigated his way to the back of the class. It was the class on Religion. He took his time to observe what he saw. It was during this unnecessary observation that he saw Melvin at the other side of the class, sitting at the back like he was.

He smiled at each other and was almost caught by the teacher. He instantly regained his status quo. He became a little bit comfortable. His seat mate at IMK Comprehensive was sitting right across the class.

He could also sight Anna. Anna was his childhood best friend who attended the same school he did when they were younger. Getting more comfortable, he saw other girls he had known either through f*******: or they attended the same school.

He was still observing when he heard a loud sound outside. It brought him back to where he was, the present world. It was the bell for the recess period. He looked up and saw Anna but she was sitting with her friends.

They had not spoken face to face since they graduated from basic school. He stood up quickly went to meet Melvin. He could sight the eye movements when he stood up.

Melvin was already am expert at this and gave him tips on so on. Melvin told him that he came very early and was the only boy in the class. Leonard laughed at Melvin in a low tone and continued listening.

The recess period did not last so long and they had to go back for the continuation of teaching and learning. Leonard decided to change his sitting position. He sat beside Melvin where they discussed throughout the remaining minutes of the lesson.

The classes ended, Leonard stood up and made for the door. He completely neglected Anna. He walked out of the compound with Melvin with one central idea in his mind “ It was not so hard”, not knowing the trouble he was in at home.
