Cannot beat them, join them!

Holidays would come and new academic terms would come. Things will be the same for Melvin while Leonard will always try to shift the discussion far from his seat position, all to no avail.

It came to the extent that he had to sometimes laugh out when the joke was really funny. With time, he saw himself saving good spots in the midst of the circle in order to have a fair share of the jokes. Though it did not affect his academics, he saw himself getting more involved in these stories and getting so excited about getting a girlfriend.

The term ended, he went home and was surprised with an android device. Could this be dream come true for Leonard, will him finally join all those who have direct access to these friendship tales or will he just snook around on social media.

He quickly had some apps installed into it and began his registration into f*******: and other social media apps. He would wake up to check on the news feed and would send friend request to those accounts he had heard their names during the course of listening to the stories.

He did not make so many friends that break though so many of his set mates in IFK Comprehensive had wanted to know so much about the brilliant good looking guy. He knew his name was known but his identity was known by a little number.

The holidays passed and he was excited to go back, not because he did not like it at home, he just knew that certainly there would be a lot of stories to tell and this time, he would be able to tell some tales too, though not all exciting as his, but a story is a story.

As anticipated, resumption day came and all went back to their boarding school. IMK and IFK ran the same time table and schedule of activity because they were being run by the same board.

As students of IMK were heading back to school, students of IFK were also moving towards their own school. Some IMK boys would take their girlfriends back to school before returning to IMK later in the evening. Leonard wondered if he would ever do this.

They resumed and this term in particular became different from other terms. He flowed with the jokes and played games and sports with others and at the same time was able to place his education at the top of the priority list. He has actually wondering why his parents would advice him against girls when he has noticed no negative change it had made in his life.

They enjoyed getting information during the daily assembly meeting of the students, teachers and the Principal, in which one of the teachers in charge of discipline would come and announce the list of boys who were caught doing one nasty thing either in school or outside the school.

Some of these include leaving the school without permission (which seems to be the general offence), going out to hang out at parties hosted by students in the city (including IFK girls), being caught in a restaurant eating noodles (noodles was the default meal students ate whenever they sneaked out). All these crime announcements seem to be a source of amusement to the junior students as they exercise their imaginative power whenever they hear things like that.

Leonard decides to completely neglect the advice of his parents because he noticed no negative change in his academics. He makes up his mind to find a girlfriend like other guys in his discussion team. Melvin was the leader in this and would always tell stories of this girl (known to them) who he was dating. The stories were not just the compellers to Leonard, the posts on f*******: added to it, the screen shots shared in their class group chats were and of course, the videos his good friend Melvin shows him at interval.

The problem remaining was how to get one. He had it all planed. He would return during the Holiday and would go all out to become extra popular. He would take very good looking pictures and would post on his timeline on f*******:.

This would increase his popularity and all. If not for anything, it will get him noticed. The schools in their town usually get invitations to seminars and talk shows, competitions in which all would attend and socialize( though this part is not directly indicated as part of it, this is usually the main reason behind the posh looks they put on when they attend these activities).

Leonard was never left out in things like this. This is because the teacher in charge would always select the smart intelligent ones who would do well in representing the school in case the need for speeches and official discussions between the students and organizers arise. He did not attend all, he just attended the ones in which students in his level were invited to. The big catch was in the senior class.

Any senior student who gets noticed by the man in charge of quiz and competitions would have himself attending so many shows and of course would be prone to getting the contacts of these girls who the boys want to socialize with.

Melvin did not attend so many at first because he did not appear as neat as Leonard appears which is also one of the requirements for attending such activities.

Sooner than later, he knew he had to attend these activities because Leonard would always give him information about those who attends and his girlfriend Shantel was a regular face to Leonard. Melvin took it up to himself to shape up. It was not actually too hard for him as all he had to do was to emulate Leonard and some other guys in school, which he did and he had his name added to the Quiz master’s list as both intelligent and dresses well.
