First Day

This is all made up; please don't hold anything against me.     Ryder’s P.O.V I was in the principal’s office with my aunt and my little brother. When we all walked in and shook his hand, we all saw our magic items turn a different color. I have a ring like my aunt and Zander has a bracelet on our dominant hands, so that way they can tell us if we have come into contact with either another supernatural being or a hunter. And in this case, we have come across a supernatural being; we just don’t know which one it is since there are so many creatures in the world. We programmed our charms to each change different colors with the supernatural and the hunters. My aunt programmed hers to say that supernatural was purple and pink was hunter, Zander programmed his to say that red was hunter and yellow, and I programmed mine to say that blue was supernatural and green was for hunter. We all look at each other exchanging looks and nodding knowing that we’re all thinking the same thing. I look around his office to see what kind of “person” he is. He is a very neat, well-furnished just the right amount of chair that could fit in the room without it feeling cramped, and his desk was very well organized. As I was looking at his desk, I noticed that his name was Caleb Scott, and I was hoping that he wasn’t related to any big shot in town; then again, he is part of a pack, so he basically is. Once I was finished looking around his office, he sat down at is desk, and start to introduce himself to us saying, “Hi, my name is Principal Scott. I’m your principal from now till you graduate high school, and I hope that we can get along well.” He says without taking his eyes off of our aunt which was a little weird, but then I thought back to what she said about werewolves and mates. I shook my head a bit think that it couldn’t be that’s what’s happening. This finally caught Principal Scott’s attention “Is there something the matter umm….?” He looks down at his desk “Ryder Greenman.” I look back at him and say, “No, nothing just a thought that had no place to be here at this time.” He nods then continues with his talk and continues to look at our aunt. After Principal Scott is done talking, he asks if we have any questions before we go to the front desk to get our schedules. Zander asks if it’s too late to try out for football, and Principal Scott’s reply is that it is not, and that tryouts are in two days. Then I turn to our aunt and say, “Auntie can I please?” she takes a second to answer, looks him over, then turn to me, and nods. I turn back to Principal Scott, and look him straight in the eye and ask, “What supernatural creature are you?” He just looks at me stunned, and unable to answer as if a house landed on him. “Okay, let me answer that question that’s running through your head, of how do you know I’m a supernatural. We’re witches and we have magic charms that let us know if we come in contact with a supernatural or a hunter.” We all raise our hands to show our charms to show him. “There now, your turn to tell us.” He slowly nods, looks at our aunt, and starts to speak, “I’m a werewolf, fro…” “I knew it!” I interrupt him excited that I was right for once. “Sorry continue.” “As I was saying, I’m a werewolf, from the Brewer Moon Pack. I’m here as the principal to watch over the younger werewolves to teach them not to give away our secret. We are like any other school though, so you would never know that there are any supernatural creatures here.” My brother pipes up to ask a question, “Is there anyone that we should stay away from, or that I should protect my sister from ‘even though I know that she can protect herself’?” I glare at him for his second half of his question. “Yes, there is even though I hate to say it. He is in my pack, and he is our soon-to-be-alpha; he is the school player.” I look at him confused then pipe up, “Wait aren’t all werewolves supposed to wait for their mate?” Principal Scott looks at me with a super serious look and answer me, “Yes yes we are, but for some reason he has decided to go august our sacred rule.” Then looks at our aunt as she blushes and asks, “What about you, hmmm?” He replied in such a sweet musical voice, “I wait for y-I mean my mate to show up.” I could tell that he was wanting to pounce on top of her, and our aunt was almost willing to let him. I clear my throat to get their attention back at hand. Principal Scott blushes along with our aunt with embarrassment that I noticed what was going on, and he says “Yes, well please don’t bring this subject up to the kids; unless they tell you that they are comfortable enough to tell you that they are werewolves. If you confront them then there will be mayhem in the school.” Zander and I nod knowing the rule; that’s why I asked our aunt if it was okay to ask him to see what creature he was. We’ve had a rule like that since we were kids; since parents were telling their kids that they can’t tell anyone what they are, we couldn’t just bluntly go up and ask them, and you know kids they are very blunt about things. Once us kids were dismissed, I knew that something was going to happen between them, so I give a knowing smirk to our aunt. She just gives me an innocent look like she doesn’t know what I’m trying to say. Once Zander and I get out of the office we head to the front desk where we can get our schedules, and Zander gives me a questioning look saying, ‘what was that all about?’ I waved him off letting him know that it’s nothing and saying, ‘If he didn’t get it, then don’t worry about it.’ when we get to the front desk. We ask the lady that’s there for our schedule and she says, “Yes, just one moment. You are the Greenmans, correct?” We both nod at her letting he know that she is correct. Once we get our schedules, we both go out to the hall to figure out where exactly our classes are before school starts which is in about ten minutes according to the lady at the front desk. So, we stick together as we find our classes, so we know where each other is. We are both overprotective of one other, that it’s insane. Once we’re done going around the school two times, so we can figure out and memorize where our classes and our lockers are. The bell rings officially letting the students into the school. So, the school started to get packed all of a sudden from all angles of us. We hug each other and head our separate ways to go to class, so we are no longer together. That feels a bit weird after being together 24/7 the last few days. When I get to my first class my teacher is very kind, and tells me, “Once class starts, I will have you come up to the front to the class and introduce yourself. Your seat the middle one on the end row by the windows; you can have a seat until class starts.” I thank her, head to my seat, and get my desk ready for class with the basics. Like a notebook, and a few mechanical pencils; just in case someone forgot theirs. I put my phone in my bag after I put it on do not disturb, so I won’t get distracted during classes then look out the window that points out to the parking lot. Just as I see a guy that I might like walking toward the school I see a girl jump onto his back and know that he’s taken. A minute later the bell rings, and I notice that pretty much everyone has taken a seat in their seat. The teacher signals me to come up, I get up, walk up to the front of the class to introduce myself. “Hi everyone, my name is Ryder Greenman. I’m new to the school, town, and the state. I’m looking forward to meeting all of you and making new friends with all of you.” As I look around the classroom as I talk, I see that all the guys are staring at me as if they haven’t seen anything like me before. I'm starting to think that my boot-cut jeans that are kind of tight on the top, and black tight long sleeve shirt blue sweatshirt around my waist maybe too much for my first day. Then I notice that there are two empty seats and think ‘Do I have to redo my introduction if the two show up?’ The teacher asked the class if there are any questions for me, and all the hands shot up; I almost have to take a step back because of the shock that everyone in class has a question for me. “Wow! That’s a lot for little old me.” I say with a giggle as I take a step back in shock. Then the teacher says, “Appropriate questions.” some of the hand go down, and I try not to giggle. “Okay, let’s start with the front right corner, Quinn.” I look over the see a pale skinned girl with titan hair color in a messy curled bob on purpose, I can tell. “I see that your hair is really well done, and it looks fabulous by the way. Did you do it? If so, what do you plan on being in the future? I’m guessing something in the hair department.” The teacher looks impressed with the question, and I hope my answer is good enough as well. “Yes, I did do it myself, and thank you, I’m glad that you like it. And I want to be a hairstylist when I become older, so you were correct.” I see her do a yes thing with her arm, and I can’t help but silently giggle. To my surprise I see her, and a few others perk up and think, ‘Well I now know who the werewolves are in my first class are, and I didn’t even have to touch them.’ After a few more questions I was finally able to sit down at my desk. Some of the questions were really weird like: do you have any siblings, and how cute are they? Am I single? Is my brother single? What would I do if I was a hairstylist? And was about the gist of the questions. Just as I sit down the front door of the classroom open, and I see the boy that delivered the pizzas to the house on Friday night. Then I hear the teacher say, “Ah Mr. Julian, nice of you to finally join us. You just missed your new classmate’s introduction.” I see him look around the room to look for a new face until he spots me, and when I can see that his eyes cloud over, but it didn’t seem to work since he looked rejected a little bit. He must have been trying to get in contact with someone. During class we got time to socialize a little bit before class ended, and everyone kind of surrounded me. Until a girl shewed them all away, she had the girl named Quinn, and the boy that delivered the pizzas to the house right behind her. “Hi, my name is Avery. Your Ryder, right?” I nod my head and say, “Yeah and thanks for the help. It was starting to get suffocating.” I say with a giggle. She giggles along with me, “Ya I know the feeling, kind of why I stepped in. Anyway, want to eat lunch with us?” I look at her with a really big smile and nod once again then say, “Ya I would love too, but only if my brother can. If he wants to join us that is.” She looks at her friends then looks back at me and nod, “That’s fine with us, but on one condition.” I look at her and think, ‘Are these the type of people that want me to pay for their lunch, or are they going to pay for my lunch.’ “You have to hangout with us after school by yourself.” I sigh with relief, and they look at me weird. “Sorry, I thought you wanted me to pay for lunch, or even pay for mine.” They all laugh at my comment, then Quinn says wiping a tear from her eye, “No way, we would have you pay for lunch. We’re not that kind of people; if anything, we would treat you to lunch.” she says with a giggle. I look at her weird “Why would you treat me to lunch? You just meet me, and don’t know anything about me.” Now this time it’s for the guy that delivered the pizzas to speak up “Hi, we haven’t officially met yet. My name is Julian, it’s nice to finally meet you. As for the reason we would pay for your lunch is because one we want to treat our new friend, and two is because you made all of us laugh which is pretty hard to do.” I look stunned that at the reasons that he gave. “I’ll eat lunch with you, but I’ll pay for myself. Thanks though.” I say with a little bit of a musical tone to it.
