When the merman and I swoosh up on the beach with a large ocean wave, I’m so incredibly happy to see the solid ground that I could kiss the sand. Don’t get me wrong—I love the ocean and all its creatures, but I’m not a fan of my merman friend constantly bullying me. He isn’t afraid of using his size against me, so I jump down from his head.
“Land!” I shout as I fall from the sky, only for the merman to snatch me into his hand before I hit the sand.
“What the heck are you doing?!” I shriek at the tone of his voice and find myself close to tears when his angry face takes over my entire sight of view.
“I-I’m so sorry!” I shout even though I have no idea what I did wrong. I’m just trying to save my ass from the big, scary predator.
