Chapter 1 A Kitchen Knife, Two Bags of Minced Meat
Northern suburbs of Yancheng, an abandoned construction site.
A emaciated old dog limped slowly along the blue steel fence beside the road.
After crossing a foul-smelling, murky puddle, the old dog suddenly stopped, raising its dark eyes to look ahead warily, its nose twitching slightly.
Where the trash cans had been, there was a cacophony of voices, and the clear sound of a police siren pierced the air.
The old dog retreated a few steps, barking softly as if unwilling to give up.
Han Xu, who was setting up the police cordon, went over at the sound, then looked down at the fresh dog feces he had stepped in.
"So it was you!"
Having found the culprit, Han Xu cursed under his breath, picked up a piece of loose gravel found at the construction site, tossed it a few times, and then hurled it with all his might.
The old dog howled, tucked its tail between its legs, and fled in panic.
Han Xu smiled upon seeing this, opening his palm, and the pebbles rolled away.
"Han Xu, why are you only arriving now?" A pretty policewoman in uniform greeted him.
Han Xu frowned, not daring to utter a sound.
It wasn't his fault; he had just transmigrated and was still somewhat disoriented.
Twenty minutes ago…
Han Xu had mysteriously transmigrated while driving, suddenly finding himself in this place.
Even more bizarrely, a new memory instantly appeared in his mind, and it had changed.
It took him a full fifteen minutes to process the fact that he had transmigrated!
Luckily, this guy was handsome, young, and even shared the same name as him.
Han Xu, 22 years old, a recent graduate of the Xia Country Police Academy.
Having just completed his internship, he was assigned to the Yancheng North Suburb Police Station.
Today was his first day on duty, but unexpectedly, he was involved in a major burglary case!
The North Suburbs Police Station hadn't handled such a large criminal case in many years. Chief Ge Chensheng ordered Criminal Investigation Captain Qin to lead a team to the scene immediately!
However, after working for most of the day, the case made no progress.
"What's the situation inside?" Han Xu stopped at the police cordon.
"The modus operandi is consistent with the 9.20 major dismemberment case in South City. A kitchen knife and two bags of scraps were found at the crime scene."
Officer Song Jia'er, from the trace evidence department, handed Han Xu two pairs of rubber gloves as she spoke.
Then she pointed to the garbage heap in the southeast corner of the construction site. "Here, go over there and search carefully."
"Wasn't I here to maintain order?" Han Xu asked doubtfully.
"We're short-handed. Captain Qin said I'm in charge of you all. Li Le and Chengzi have been working for half an hour. You're so late, and you still have the nerve to complain."
"Hey, little girl, you're quite sharp-tongued." Han Xu took the gloves, still pressing the issue.
Song Jia'er glared at the new recruit, wishing she could devour him whole.
"Fine, fine, fine, I'll go, okay? Tsk, his angry look is rather cute."
Han Xu turned and left the blushing young policeman, heading straight for the southeast corner of the construction site.
About ten steps away, a thick, pungent stench of decay wafted over, almost tangible, thick and choking!
Han Xu had the privilege of witnessing some large-scale events during his internship, even giant sights, but this stench was something he couldn't get used to.
He covered his nose with one hand and put on all the rubber gloves Song Jia'er had given him to prevent the stench from seeping in.
The next task was going to be tough; he had to search through the mountain of garbage for any possible pieces!
Before coming, he had heard that a homeless scavenger had discovered the site.
At five o'clock this morning, the homeless man found a kitchen knife and two bags of chopped scraps in a very ordinary large green garbage can. At first, the homeless man thought it was scraps discarded from the nearby market, so he took it home and cooked it.
Unexpectedly, he found a piece of his little finger with a nail attached, almost vomiting his intestines out!
Han Xu searched through the garbage heap while analyzing the scene.
The footprints at the abandoned construction site were numerous and varied, with little value. There was a large market next door, so a lot of garbage was dumped here.
The green garbage bin where the piece was found was isolated in the center of the area. From a distance, it looked like a sturdy and durable iron bin, though some paint was peeling off, indicating it had no value.
Clearly, this was just an ordinary dumping ground.
However, it was clear the killer was very bold, daring to dump things in such a place.
Wasn't they afraid of being seen?
[Ding, host's profession detected, system is binding]
[Ding, congratulations to the host for obtaining the Detective Training System]
Sure enough, the system arrived late.
"He's transmigrated, it wouldn't be right if he didn't get a super powerful skill pack."

The sheer volume of information contained in this skill pack pierced Han Xu's mind like a sharp awl.
The sheer amount of information nearly killed Han Xu on the spot!
The intense pain that followed instantly contorted his face!
"Han Xu, what's wrong?" Song Jia'er, who had come to bring him water, saw Han Xu's pained expression.
"It's nothing, just a bit of a headache..." Before he could finish speaking, Han Xu collapsed into the policewoman's arms...
Before losing consciousness, he cried out, "It hurts! It hurts so much!"
Song Jia'er was stunned. Her colleague, who had been so lively just moments before, had suddenly fainted.
Could he be ill?
Impossible, he wouldn't pass the professional health check if he was sick.
"Slap! Slap!" Song Jia'er leaned against Han Xu's towering frame, freeing her right hand to gently pat his face twice.
Thankfully, the pain came on fiercely but subsided quickly.
Under Song Jia'er's anxious gaze, Han Xu slowly regained consciousness.
"Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, probably just heatstroke."
"That's good. Did you find anything?"
Han Xu shrugged. "It's been half a day, and I haven't found anything. What about your side?"
"Have some water and rest for a while." Song Jia'er picked up the bottled water that had just fallen from the ground and handed it to Han Xu, then said, "There probably aren't any other blocks here."
"Were the blocks we found this morning frozen?" Han Xu found a secluded spot and sat down on the ground.
"How did you know?" Song Jia'er was certain Han Xu hadn't seen the two bags of blocks.
Han Xu replied, "Just a guess."
"You could even guess that?" Song Jia'er's curiosity was piqued by Han Xu's answer. "Tell me, how did you guess?"
"Didn't you say that the characteristics of the piece of metal we found this time match the dismemberment case that happened in Nancheng a few days ago?"
"Our small town hasn't had such a big murder case for many years."
"Nine times out of ten, these two cases were committed by the same person, and the pieces were the same."
"The pieces in Nancheng were freshly disposed of. After so many days, and with the weather so hot, the pieces we found must have been frozen."
Hearing Han Xu's logical analysis, Song Jia'er had to reassess this newly hired employee.
