August 15th – Sean"s Cabin August 15th – Sean"s CabinThe door stood open, with no sign of life. Smoke curled its way slowly up into the bright, summer sky. It was mid-August, and the contrast between my first sighting of the cabin during the blizzard last November and the one I saw today, left me breathless. My eyes took in the colorful array of wild flowers scattered across the meadow. Instead of blinding snow and freezing air that chilled me to the bone, sunlight lit up the cabin and I felt its soothing warmth on my face. Gone were the feelings of fear and despair that shrouded my heart back then; they were all replaced now with a sense of peace and excited anticipation. I swatted a mosquito buzzing by my ear.
