"Tell me," I said. "Why did you attack us?" He hesitated for a moment, staring at me with fear in his eyes. I could see the desperation in his voice, and I could understand why he was begging for mercy. He must have been desperate, thinking that he would die if the rebels found out about the incident. I lowered my weapon, knowing that he needed my help. I wasn't going to hurt him or anything like that, unless he provoked me. "Is that all?" I asked. "Can I leave now?" "Yes," he said. "Please do. There's nothing we can say to you." I nodded, looking at him closely. He was a weak man, one who had lost everything and didn't know what to do.
