chapter 1
Amidst the darkness of the night, the dim yellow light adorned the luxurious room. As soon as she entered the room, she felt like she wasn't being welcomed. There was an aura of strangeness as the huge space made her heart at unease. The bedroom was huge with a queen size bed in the center. Right above the bed, Zyra saw a large crystal chandelier that was ornate with so many lamps that even Zyra wasn't able to count. It had five tiers in descending circles. The chandelier was radiating the entire room as all the other bulbs and lamps were switched off. She wondered whether anyone would hang a chandelier right above the bed. Zyra stood at the door for a few moments. No one helped her to enter the room, no pushes, no one to tell naughty jokes or to tease her about the night. She was all alone at the entrance of the massive bed-chamber. The room was empty. She saw no one in that enormous space. Zyra stepped forward onto the beautiful Persian rug that covered the floor. A tickle went up to her spine as she felt the softness of the rug with her naked feet. This is my bedroom from now on. This is where I am going to start a new life. Zyra thought as the strange feeling engulfed her. She was in a new place, a new home full of strangers who didn't even consider that she was there. The vast room was empty saving her presence and the luxurious furniture in it. The entire room was completely decorated with roses and many other flowers with vibrant colors. White curtains covered all the windows. She walked towards the center of the room. Her stroll was calm and silent. Her quiet strode ended in front of the beautiful queen-sized bed. Even the bed was decorated with flowers. A heart made of red petals beautified the bed. Her heart was going through a plethora of emotions. She was nervous and lonely, yet there was some hidden excitement. It is her first night after marriage. She looked at her wedding dress, a golden backless choli (blouse) and a very beautiful red lehenga (skirt) with golden flowers printed on it. She also had a matching dupatta (shawl) with gold and silver stripes knitted on it. Both silver and gold palettes suited well with red. It was designed by the famous Bollywood celebrity designer Mahesh Nivalkar. Zyra sat on the bed with a heavy sigh. She wished someone was there to talk with her. She was feeling nauseated by the solitude of that wide-open space. She was looking absolutely gorgeous as the Rojo (Spanish red) suited well with her skin tone. Her body was covered in jewelry. She had many bangles, both gold and diamond-studded, on both hands. She also wore a diamond ring and a gold ring on two of her fingers. Her necklaces were studded with diamonds rubies and sapphires. A yellow gemstone glittered on her nose ring. A purple stone shone on her navel ring. A platinum waistband was wrapped around her beautiful waist. She wore black mascara in her eyes and red lipstick on her already red lips. Her auburn hair was free-flowing. She was slim with exquisite features. She looked around. The air conditioner was at its cooling best. The cold sent chills down her spine. Zyra saw the duffel bag she had brought from her home, on the dressing unit. She thought about changing her clothes as she felt heavy with all the jewelry she wore. Zyra stood up from the bed and walked towards the dresser. In the mirror, she saw her own reflection. She saw her gloomy face in the mirror. She was supposed to be happy. She was married to the most famous hunk in town. A successful businessman who always had a predominant spot on the cover of almost every business magazine in the country. There was a magazine on the dresser with Vidyut’s face on its cover. His eyes were green. A well-trimmed beard gave him an authoritative look. His long nose was unique. Yet, she felt nothing. Zyra opened her duffel bag and took out silky pink nightwear. She absent-mindedly walked again towards the bed with the nightwear on one hand and the magazine on the other. The moment she sat on the bed, Zyra heard the sound of running water from the bathroom. Her heart started to beat faster when she heard the sound. He is in there, taking a shower before getting in bed with her for sharing the most precious and delicious moments of their married life. Should she feel excited? She should be. However, she only felt numb. She was devoid of emotions. This wasn't the wedding night she always dreamt of. A luxurious wedding with the man she would love and he would carry her in his arms to the wedding chamber decorated with uncountable candles. He would lay her on the bed and gently kiss her and caress her. But it was only in her dreams. She hardly saw the man she wed. He was nowhere to be seen once the nuptial ceremony was over. She was all alone amidst all the relatives crowded in the luxurious building. No one seemed to care about her or the wedding. As she was immersed in her thoughts the bathroom door opened. Her eyes deceived her as her stare went at the bathroom door. A young man in his mid-twenties came out of the bathroom with only a white bath towel wrapped around his waist. He was tall and handsome. He had a chiseled body with a well-trimmed waist. Muscles protruded out from every inch of his enchanting torso. She could see a slight bulge in the front of his towel. He looked like a Greek god who just appeared in front of her from heaven. Her heart which was devoid of emotions a little while earlier started beating profusely.   *-*-*
