It was the coldest the room had ever been. The emptiness in my chest was worse than the cold air.
I stood still, staring at the man in front of me. The one who had somehow controlled everything and changed every moment of our lives into something I never thought would happen. I knew his smile all too well.
Matthew stood next to me, stiff, with his jaw set and his eyes narrowed. I could feel the raw tension coming off of him, but I knew he was just as stiff as I was. I couldn't move or breathe for a moment because the weight of everything was too much.
