I couldn't get any air.
The quiet in the room was louder than the shouts we had just made. Matthew's face was a mask…cold and distant….but I could see the stress in his eyes. The same eyes that used to make me feel safe. Now, they just made me doubt everything.
I wanted to go. I wanted to leave everything behind. The untruths. The treachery. The promises that were broken. But it felt like my feet were stuck to the floor. I couldn't get up. And even worse, I didn't know where I would go if I did.
