The phone slipped out of my hand and hit the ground with a dull thud. The ringing stopped right away, but Aaron's voice still echoed in my head.
"I'm coming for you, and this time you won't get away."
Those words were like a sick joke that kept playing in my head, reminding me that everything I had built and tried to protect was falling apart. I ran my hand through my hair and closed my eyes.
