“Hunter?” Mackenzie blurted out before she could school her shock and hold her tongue. Immediately realizing her error, she gulped and double blinked as though she needed a clearer vision to understand what was going on. Edrik wasn’t supposed to know about Hunter. So, how did he know? But more importantly, what did he know? At that moment, Mackenzie was simultaneously grateful and frustrated by the low lighting in the restaurant. Grateful because she hoped it hid the flush she felt on her face and the horror in her eyes. But also frustrated to hell because it also prevented her from seeing Edrik properly, and hopefully, read where he was going with this. However, despite the shadows, she didn’t miss how the corner of Edrik’s lips twitched. “Did you think I wouldn’t find out?” he asked.
