“Hunter!” Hunter heard Jaxson’s voice above the crying and whimpers that came from the woman draped over his shoulder. The sound seemed to cut through the stuffy air and bounce off the tall iron pillars that went up three floors. They looked to be the only thing that kept the roof from crushing down on them. Thankfully, the woman had stopped trying to reshape his spinal cord. The shooting had also stopped, and Hunter hoped that meant the situation was under control because he needed a second to orient himself and catch his breath.
