AZRIEN'S POV. The room had been too small for my restraint. One careless breath, one careless word, and I nearly shattered everything. The sound of Elisa’s footsteps still echoed faintly in my head, even though she was long gone. My own words—you’re mine—burned on my tongue like poison I had chosen to swallow willingly. I slammed the door shut behind me as I walked back into the room again. The wood rattling on its hinges. I had lost count of how many times I'd opened that door today since she left. I wanted to go after her, to make sure she was okay. I wanted to be out there with her to make sure that no one, nothing would touch her. Not again. But something kept pulling me back. The room quaked with the weight of my temper, but silence quickly devoured it again. Silence always did.
