“What is that?” Abel asks as Jenna gets out of the car, I look to the forest and smile. “Our brothers and sisters.” I put my hand to his chest and he turns, I look back at Jenna as 7 wolves join us. “Your kind can’t kill us all; know our numbers aren’t as small as you would like to think. Leave now and I’ll allow it but know this the next time we met one of us will die.” I shot her in the shoulder. “Now you’ll never forget me.” she groaned as she climbed into car and took off like a bat out of hell. “Thank you for coming, I have a place nearby its safe.” I changed into my wolf and lead the way home, as home came into view I speed up I was eager to see Gwen. “SELENA!” Gwen yells as she runs out onto the front porch, I leap up at her and she hugs me tightly. “I swear to god! If you ever! I was worried sick!” she screamed at me as she held tighter, she looks over my shoulder. “Umm Selena, do you know there are 7 extras with you?” I bark out a laugh as I lick her face. “Eww! Ok that’s just gross.” She laughs; she walks over to the barn and opens the barn doors. “I didn’t know you where bring company so there are only the 2. I’ll set up a much bigger breakfast.” A large black wolf walks over to Gwen; I growl a warning, “Watch yourself.” He just bumps into her hand then joins us, I wait until Gwen is inside before allowing them to eat the dead cows. In the morning I woke up and could finally see the people. “Sheriff Neddly?” I whisper, he smiles at me from behind the pile of hay. “Well I guess its too late to say no.” I look around at the other faces, 3 are fellow students then the Mayor and her husband but the seventh I couldn’t see. “Over here.” Abel calls out; I follow his voice and see a little boy no older than 8 who looks scared as hell. “Who are you?” he whispers. “I'm Selena, this is Abel. Do you remember last night?” he shook his head no. “When were you bitten?” he eyes widen. “You know? How?” I hold out my hand for him. “You were bitten by a werewolf; we all were at one time or another. Your safe I promise, this is my aunts farm and she knows about our kind.” The barn doors open and Gwen stands there with a box of clothes. “Sheriff, Mayor Lockwood.” She smiles as she puts it down, “Breakfast is inside, you all welcome to join us.” I walk toward and pull on pants and a jumper. “Sorry Gwen, I guess the police can help after all.” I link arms with her then we head back to house, one by one the other joins us. We all spoke about our stories and agreed that Gwen's was a safe to change and stay together. Only the boy remained. “Where’s your family?” I asked him. “Dead, it killed them but I ran.” He cried, I hug him tightly. “Hey it’s ok, you’re safe here. Do you have any other family? Will anyone be looking for you?” “No, they were my foster family.” I held him tightly. “Well you may not be blood family but you’re welcome to join ours, Abel isn’t mine but this is his home too.” Gwen said coming back inside, I smiled up at her. “You mean it? You really want me?” I laugh as I kiss his forehead. “You are very wanted here, and now you will know what a true family is, we will never leave you behind. What's your name?” “Brendan.” I wrinkle my nose. “No that won’t do, how about Ace?” he smiles. “Why Ace?” I smile at Gwen who nods. “Ace means the best or number 1, I think it suits you.” “Another A, just like you.” “That’s right, you’re just like us.” Even Abel joins in on the hug; we clean out 2 more rooms then head into town and get supplies. Abel went off to get his own supplies while I helped Ace, he picked a theme close to mine. Then the 4 of us went to the city and did even more shopping. We didn’t spend the night since Ace was still in transition. “You don’t have to be like us, you can be human again.” He smiles up at me. “No thanks, I like who I'm becoming. I'm not afraid anymore.” He grips my hand. “I can teach you how to talk with your wolf, because believe it or not he is just as scared as you are. For him it’s like being born, but he is good and pure just like you are. He loves you and will protect you from everything, I love my wolf she is beautiful and wise.” “Much like the girl.” Abel smiles into the rear-view mirror, Gwen slaps him. “That’s my niece; you better believe you need to meet my standards before you have my blessings.” “And mine.” Ace laughs which just set us all off, when we arrive home the others have all come back. “I doubted that you would return.” I smiled at them. “Well I gotta say that I've felt pulled here all day, something in me wants to be here.” The sheriff said. “Wolves aren’t meant to be alone, we are pack animals.” As I said the word pack a shiver ran thru all of us. “What was that?” Ace asked, I picked him up as I looked at each of them. “The final piece falling into place, our family being formed.” When we changed we ran as a pack with me at the front, we went out to deep forestery and hunted wild boar.
