8. Calling for advice

1127 Words
I locked my bedroom doors and released a deep sigh. The revelations that Rafael shared with me were still rolling through my mind. I don't get it, it's unnatural. So why would he choose this path willingly? His cousin must be hot, because I don't see any other explanation. I just hope that he won't be the fated Mate of any of my friends. If it was for example, Harriet's things would get ugly if he hurt her. And if I knew Heston and Anton they would wipe out the whole El Caura Pack from the surface of the earth to avenge her. I waved it off for now. I checked the time and it was still quite early, so maybe Veronica wasn't yet asleep. I took my phone and dialed her number. There wasn't even one ring when she answered. "What do you want?!" - if she weren't already pregnant I would be fairly positive she was at THAT time of the month after this greeting. "Hello to you too, Big Sis. You were waiting for my call judging from how fast you answered." - I mocked her a little, but it probably wasn't the best idea since I wanted something from her, but old habits die hard. "Don't think too highly of yourself, Vicky. I was playing Candy Crush on my phone, cause apparently that's the only thing I'm allowed to do." - I could almost see her rolling her eyes saying this. That second kid had better be worth it, because Anton is up for a couple of rough months. "Did Mom tell you to call me that?" - I whined. "Nope, I have a sixth sense when it comes to things that annoy you." - she said, clearly proud of herself. Sisters are the worst. "You sure do. So tell me, how is my little nephew doing?" "Freddie? He's growing, but even though he's the size of an apple he's already messing with my life." - Nica said with a sigh. My sister was always proud of her martial skills, so the fact she can't exercise now is probably unbearable for her. "Freddie, huh? You won't keep the family tradition and go with the 'V'?" "I wish, but Anton is pressuring me to name our son after his father. Besides, if I will keep up with this tradition, till the day you'll have your own pups, all good 'V' names will be already taken, leaving you with awful ones like Vasile or even worse. I'm doing it for you!" - she started chuckling at her lame joke, but what should I expect from a pregnant girl anyway? " Well, thank you for being so concerned about me, but we may not have to wait that long for my pups." "What do you mean, Vic? You made some poor girl a baby?" - she sneered. "No, not yet, but I actually found my Mate today." - I finally admitted the real reason for my call. I was expecting everything, but not what Veronica actually did. She got silent. And believe me my sister talks even in her sleep, so maybe she had a heart attack?! "Nica?! Are you still there?" - I asked. "Yeah, yeah. That's… great!" - but she didn't sound happy at all. "Go ahead, say it." - I knew exactly what she was thinking, because I was thinking the same. "How can you be so sure?" - those six words have been running through my brain for the last couple of hours, ever since Iris told me. "Well, I'm not. That's one of the reasons why I'm calling you. You completed a bond with Anton before you felt the pull yourself, so maybe you have some good advice for me?" - I asked truthfully. "Oh Vic, I know I did, but I was more than sure he is my Mate. I had Nim, remember? She foreseen this." - that's right, Veronica has a friend who is a werewolf and witch hybrid with some awesome abilities. "Can she tell if Iris is telling me the truth?" - I asked, suddenly excited about that thought. "I don't know, she got more control over her powers after accepting Falco, but I'm not sure if she will use them for my little brother love life's sake." "Oh come on, Nica. You know I barely ever ask you about anything. Do this for me. Pretty, pretty please." - I whined just a bit. I was master at getting what I wanted, being the youngest of the three of us had its perks. "Barely ever?! Are you f*****g kidding me? What about covering for you when you ditched school countless times? Or what about helping you get out of the Pack House when you wanted to go to the party but Mom forbade you? What about…" - Nica was right, she and Vince did quite a few favors for me, but hey, what's older siblings for, right?! And in the long run, I took one for the team by stepping up, when my brother left his responsibilities for Chloe. "Ok, OK, OK, I owe you a lot, but this isn't some childish favor, this is serious, it's about the future of the Crescent Moon." - alright, I'll admit that calling upon our home's future was a low blow, but it was kinda true. When I heard my sister taking a deep breath on the other side of the phone, I knew I had won. "Ok. But you will have to talk with her yourself. You're the future Alpha, I can't do everything for you." - she said firmly and I knew this was the best deal I'll get from her. "Thanks, you're the best Sister there is!" "Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm awesome. I'll send you her number in a second. But promise you will tell me everything! Anton made my life so boring that I need something interesting to keep it going." "Sure, you'll be the first one to know." "Good Boy! But Vic, if Nim won't be able to help you keep it in your pants till your birthday, OK?" "Nica!" - oh she was out of line, not that she was wrong, but she didn't have to tell me this. I actually knew that much. "What?! Bitches are crazy, and even if I hate to admit it, you're a catch." - she really has no filter. And she's a Luna for crying out loud. " OK, that's enough for me. Send me that number! Bye." - and I disconnected the call before she was able to give me any other inappropriate advice. A few moments later, my phone buzzed with the incoming message. OK, let's find out if Luna Springer can help me here.
