The bright maps and graphic displays vied for his attention, but he stared past them, focusing instead on a small patch of bare, painted wall. A loud beep roused him from his distraction and he spun his chair, pushing himself over to the feed from the National Weather Service. The printer whirred to life, spitting out the data he needed to compare the prior forecasts and computer predictions against the current conditions. Yes, it took more work to prep for his brief broadcast and some might feed the data into a program and let things automatically calculate, but Grant preferred doing his own math.
