DON'T GET CAUGHT EPISODE TWENTY THREE

Candy drove all the way to the main road then we decided to switch positions before the guys got to us. The thing is I didn't know if they were following us because they didn't seem to be in a hurry to jump in their cars and follow us but we needed to be safe anyway. Who were those guys and how did they know we were going to be there?

Me: are you okay?

I asked taking a sharp corner with my reckless driving that we almost ended up in a ditch.

Candy: it's good to know you still care.

She had started again but this was not the time. What had happened to Finch I mean where the hell was his body?

Candy: do you think Finch could be alive all these time?

Me: how is that even possible.

I asked looking at her confused because I didn't see any possibilities of that happening. We buried him and she was there.

Me: is there anything medically that can explain how Finch can be alive after being shot dead?.

Candy: what if he never died when he was shot?

Candy was speaking "gibbish" and gibbish was a language I didn't understand. She was a nurse and she needed to be the one who had the answers to these questions I was asking.

We got home and I had to remember where I had planted the explosives so that we wouldn't end up being the first victims. Candy ended up going with me to my place as I didn't even think she would be safe at her place and I was kind of happy that she was going to sleep over and not that I intended to do anything with her but I needed her company. I wanted to hear her say she was sorry over and over again. Yeah that was stupid but you know, it made me feel better that she couldn't live without me otherwise she would not have come back.

Me: be careful don't step on those landmines.

Candy: I can't see any..

She said looking around.

Me: that's one of them so jump over it. Every place with a paint had a landmine under it. We marked with difference colors so that someone would think it's some sort of decorations.

I opened the door and we both got in. The boss seemed to have been asleep so we didn't bother to wake him up and tell him what had happened at the grave site. We saved that story for the following day but still, how the hell was Finch missing from the grave?..

I dropped the car keys on the table then picked the mask that had been sent to me and I looked at it again. The mask couldn't be a replica. It was my mask..

Candy: you should thank God I was there, those people could have killed you..

I looked at her and took the mask then walked out of the house leaving her seated there. She shrugged her shoulder and switched on the TV then got up and went to the kitchen to see what she could prepare..

I opened the door and went across the road to Emily's place. Her lights were still on so I knew she was not asleep yet. Emily was too calm for a person whose daughter had been kidn*pped and she ought to have known something about the mask. Could it be Dondi playing tricks on me, was that his way of luring Beast out?

The gate opened and Emily pulled me in as she wrapped her night gown around her. We walked to the door then took a few steps and stood there talking and I showed her the mask.

Emily: what is that?

Me: a mask.

Emily: of cause I can see it's a mask but why are you showing it to me?

Me: somebody sent me this mask wrapped in a box. Do you know who it could be?

Emily: so now you think I hang around with a pair of binoculars checking out the activities that go on inside your compound?

I didn't have to respond to that because Emily was acting fishy and I couldn't figure her out. I left her standing there and walked back to my house.

Beast had zero tolerance for liars and if I was being lenient on Emily, that's because she was dealing with the Steve side of me. Steve was patient and more tolerant. He saw good in people while Beast never did. Beast was a beast and before I got back to that, I needed to know what I was up against and I needed to know who Emily really was because everything she said wasn't adding up..

Elsewhere..

The tream that had gone to the cemetery to scare off Beast was back and they were all excited and stuff. They laughed at how they appeared from no where and scared the hell out of Candy and Beast.

Ringo: they didn't even expect that we would be there...( Laughter)

Koffi: we should have shot them dead when we had a chance. I had a very clear shot.

Dondi: I don't want Beast dead right now. I want to be the one to kill him but first I would like to see the look on his face when I send him the coffin this time round.

Loketo: you are playing with fire.

Dondi: I detect a snitch in that voice.

Loketo: snitch,no. I'm telling you the reality on the ground, the guy you are messing with is a Beast but if you want to see the beast in him, continue pulling those strings..

Dondi: you speak like you know him too well.

Loketo: back in that warehouse, I had a cousin who were trained by him, when they went rogue on the last days, he told us who beast really was. One time he asked those who wanted to leave the warehouse to run and when they did he shot all of them dead. No mercy! The other time two men set them up and when their boss asked beast to shoot them, he blew their heads to the roof and that's not all. Beast does not negotiate. He killed General under his guys watch then he cleared off general's crew. Do you know why I joined the Fujo brotherhood, I did because I want justice for my cousin and trust me, if we keep playing games with Beast, he will come here and wipe us out. He will sweep this place clean single handedly with you included. Beast does not miss a target and once he marks you, you will go down..

Koffi: so we should get cold chills at the mention of his name. With someone like beast you don't go straight at him. You strike where it hurt him the most. I say we kill Candy then make Emily get even closer to him. We can finish Beast off using Emily

Loketo laughed then got up and started to walk away but Dondi grabbed him and pushed him to the wall and put a gun on his stomach.

Dondi: what does that laughter mean?

Loketo: let me go man..

Dondi: are you with us or against us?

Loketo: of cause I'm with you but I won't go on a suicide mission with you. How long before Beast figured out who Emily really is? He will kill her then send her head to you in a box... Don't say I didn't warn you.

He pushed him off then made his way out..

Dondi: get the hell out of here......all of you!

They all got up and found their way out.

I got back into the house and Candy was not taking. She was in the kitchen cooking I don't know what and I didn't even bother to ask. I sat down on the edge of my bed and pulled my laptop closer to me and clicked on a folder that had Finch's funeral photos.

Finch was dark in his normal state so there was no much different with the dead him. He couldn't be alive..

Candy: new catch?

Me: what?

Candy: the woman from the other side.

I smiled... It wasn't funny but it was good to know that she was jealous. I didn't respond to her so she came where I was to see what I had concentrated on.

Candy: Finch again?

Me: I think you were right earlier.. i now think Finch never died in that shoot out. We could have gotten played.

Candy: that's a stupid thought.

Me: is it, where is his body?

She couldn't answer that and again, I had every right to think Finch was alive and if that i***t was, I would put a bullet in him myself for the hell he put me through.

I checked the wire that I had left in Emily's house and it had been active the entire time so I decided to play it to see if there were any random conversations.

First, there was the conversation between me and Emily,then the one between him and Dondi and the other one was her on a phone call.

Caller: so what is your decision Emily, is it going to be Dondi or Beast?

Emily: how do I know that you are telling me the truth?..

Caller: are you questioning me now?

Emily: Dondi has my daughter and he threatens to kill her if I don't give him Beast. You on the other hand...

Caller: you don't have much time to keep debating... Make your choice wisely..

Candy: who is she talking to?

Me: I don't know...

I looked at Candy then I played that part one more time..

Me: what is the caller threatening her with, I'm not getting it.?

Candy sat next to me then played the clip again and this time we were keen both of us.

Candy: what if Emily was one of those random chicks Finch was sleeping with?

Me: no, I don't think so.. I met almost all the girls he was sleeping with but I never met an Emily.

Candy: if you ask me, Emily could be aware of where Finch is and the baby in question could be Finch's baby. Think Steve, why else would she come to live here...next to you?

Me: no. It can't be...

I got up and got my gun then c****d it. I wore my mask and stepped out. Finch couldn't be playing games with me, it wasn't him..

I got out of the gate and before I could step out completely, I saw Emily being dragged out of her house by two men and my first instinct was to shoot at them which i did but they shot back then forcefully pushed Emily in the car when i took cover from the bullets they were raining my way.

Me : s**t!

A bullet almost got me and now it was time for a Chase. I needed to know who those guys were and why they had Emily I ran back inside and candy was already by the door with the keys and met me half way.

Candy: what's going on?

Me: they have Emily..

I said rushing to the car and the gunshots must have woken the boss up because we heard the door open and then there was an "Oh my God" from candy and I turned to look at her.

Candy: Steve!!...

I walked back to her and she had stepped on the landmine unknowingly.. damn it! She thought of pulling her foot off the paint but i stopped her. Landmines were dangerous and if she pulled her foot off it, it was going to go off...

Me: don't take off your foot from that Candy, you have to keep your foot there or you are dead!....
