Lyra’s POV "No—" "Lyra, please don't cry. Everything will be okay. You will get pregnant again," said Selene. She had rushed over to take me to the hospital, and now she was wiping the tears from my face. "Selene, both of them are gone... they're gone," I sobbed. Selene moved closer and pulled me into a hug, gently patting my back. It felt like she knew I didn't want to answer any questions, especially about what had just happened at the pack house so I just let myself cry. Suddenly, someone asked, "Alpha Silas, where have you been?" "Didn't your beta inform you of your wife's condition?" Selene who was always the angry type asked loudly without caring about the fact she was speaking to the Alpha of our pack. Silas did not bother answering her, he walked up to me instead, holding Iris's hand. "I heard the doctor's words. Maybe this is for the best," his words were like daggers ripping me apart. How could he say such cruel words to me? I moved my gaze to Iris who didn't feel sorry for me even when she was the cause of all of this. "Why—" "Selene, please excuse us, please," I interrupted her, making her walk out of the room. After Selene left, I began. "Silas, I swear I have never cheated on you before. Maybe Iris has it all mixed up." Without saying a word, Silas dropped his phone on the bed, playing a video I couldn't bring myself to look at twice. I was kissing another man. Something I did not remember doing. I tried to recall who was in the video but I couldn't. So I have no memory of the man or the place or how this happened. "Let's say she got it all mixed up, it doesn't matter anymore," his words left me confused. "Let's get a divorce..." "I want us to get a divorce and go our separate ways, of course I would compensate you for all the wifey acts you have pulled up for five years," he said. Anger burned through my veins as I watched him turn to face Iris, a satisfied smile on their faces like they both have been waiting for this moment. "Sis, I am sorry this has to happen because you know the fault isn't exactly mine," Iris said, sounding like she was the victim here. Knowing it is of no use trying to talk to Iris who would always have whatever she wanted at the end of the day, I turned to face Silas. "Why are you doing this to me?" "But~~ Silas... you..." my voice cracked; tears I had been struggling to hold back poured down. "I never wanted to marry you in the first place," Silas began, "After Iris saved my life years ago when I was helpless, I gave the love token to her but unfortunately it somehow ended up with you and father mixed it all up and proposed the marriage meant for Iris to you!" "I could have continued with this marriage, but look at what you did, even after enduring everything, you still cheated." Iris was just smiling as he said those hurtful words to me. I never did what he accused me of! "I want to make things official with Iris," giving her that sweet look he had never given me. Even though that token has always been with me, there wasn't a need for me to explain it to him. He already made his decision. Iris unlocked her hands from his before walking up to me, placing her hand on mine. "I am sorry this has to happen. I love—" "You love him? If you really do, you won't be lying to him," it took me everything to whisper those words to her. I took her hands away from mine, unable to stand her. All because of her, I lost my pups. The same pups I have been asking the moon goddess for. "Iris, get up or you might get hurt," Silas's voice echoed, rushing to carry her up. "Ahh— Silas, it hurts," Iris cried out, putting up her pretentious act again. "Iris... what's wrong? Doctor! Is anyone here?" Silas screamed with care, rushing out. "What was all this about?" Selene's voice echoed a few minutes after Silas left with Iris in his arms. "Selene, I just lost my pups, I don't think I am ready to have any conversation," I said slowly, letting down more tears. Soon, the doctor arrived and rushed to examine me like I had some complications. The look on his face was even colder than it was the first time he came to announce the miscarriage. "Luna Lyra, I'm so sorry for the misdiagnosis. Your pregnancy is still viable. The mistake was from the lab earlier, we are so sorry for what it might have cost you," the doctor explained to me. My once dark world brightened up immediately. "What? Doctor? I'm still pregnant?" I asked quickly. "Yes, you're still very pregnant with twins. However, the second pup isn't developing properly due to your health condition," He said. "I do not understand," I replied sharply. "It's nothing to worry about, I'll administer some treatment for you to follow and it'll help with your condition," he explains, his eyes fixed on the reports. "I mean, it would stabilize your fibroid so you can carry the pregnancy to full term." "Thank you, doctor, I'll remain grateful forever." "If there's nothing else, I'll go prepare for your discharge," he turns to leave. "Doctor," I called him out, adjusting myself on the bed. "Can you please don't tell the Alpha about the new development? I'd like to tell him myself." "Sure. I won't." After the doctor left, Selene rushed towards me. "Are you really going to tell him about the babies? What if he asks you to abort them?" "I'm not planning to tell him, Selene. I just needed the doctor to believe I would. It is obvious Silas is out of my life and my kids belong to me alone," I said, tightening my grip on the bedsheets. "I am glad you finally chose yourself," Selene held my hands tightly. "I know your father would definitely not welcome you back home after the divorce. So, if you need to leave the pack, I would gladly help you out." Selene's words brightened my face with a smile. But the smile disappeared the moment Beta Kris walked in. The look on his face wasn't the usual one. It was now obvious ~~the~~ news has spread like fire. "Luna Lyra, the Alpha requests you sign these documents,"Kris handed some documents to me. The first one read DIVORCE AGREEMENT. while the second was compensation. Silas was transferring five percent of his property to me as a divorce compensation. As much as I hoped all of this was a nightmare, I couldn't. The least I could do for my pups is not to let them have a father who hates them just like my father hates me. I signed the divorce papers using the available pen, my hands quivering as I did. "It is done now, finally, we are now divorced."
