Two faces appeared at the small window to Bryan’s room. One male, the other female.
“Have his parents been contacted?” asked the male, an orderly whose job it was that evening to accompany the nurse on duty as she did her final rounds.
“We’ve got a contact number,” replied the female nurse. “Too late to do it now. I’ll get someone to do it tomorrow.”
The male orderly slowly shook his head. “He looks like a young guy, too. Just a boy. Honestly, what could go so wrong in his life that he has to end up here?”
The female nurse turned to him and fixed him with a look. “You’re new here, aren’t you?”
The male orderly nodded.
“There are lots of things that can go wrong. Drugs, alcohol, s****l abuse. Life!”
