Chapter 7

Shadow

My name is Waylon Atlas Gibson, and I am twenty-seven years old. When I was eighteen, I left home and joined the military. It had always been something that I wanted to do because my dad and grandpa both were in the military. And I wanted to follow in their footsteps more than anything.

I had been serving for a few years when I ran into Tulip. She was a princess of the club. One of her dads and her grandparents were all members of the club. I grew up around her and spent a lot of time at her house. Her oldest brother is my best friend.

So when I saw her out and about in South Carolina one day, I was surprised. I didn't realize that she was going to college so far away from home. But I also secretly loved it. When I wasn't busy with work or out of town on a mission, I was spending all of my free time with her.

I know that something was going on with her, but she never would tell me what. But I had a feeling that it had to do with her dad. When she was younger, her mom and her one dad split up from her other dad. They had been in a poly relationship one day and then separated the next. I never did figure out what caused them to split. But because of it, Tulip had to spend most weekends and holidays with her dad after a DNA test determined that she was the only one of the kids who belonged to him.

With her moving out here for college, we eventually started dating. We had been dating for two years when I had to go on a year-long tour. During that time, I was to have no contact with anyone back home. And the only way that our CO would get hold of us is if it were an absolute emergency. And even then it was effy.

So I was surprised as f**k when I got back to find out that my girl had up and left me. When I got back to my house, I was hurt from the mission. I was sore as hell, in pain, miserable, and all I wanted was to see my girl. I'd had time to think about it, and I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.

Fuck I even stopped on the way home and picked up a ring.

But when I got back to the house, I was so f*****g surprised to find that she was gone, and so wasn't all of her s**t. The only thing that she had left me was a letter telling me that something had happened, and she just needed time. She also explained that while she knew that I would never cheat on her. Some b***h showed up to claim that her baby belonged to me.

Needless to say, I started to ask around and found out who the girl was. And then I took a buddy with me who was a lawyer, and another who was a doctor, and we went to confront her.

The b***h was so delusional that she even tried to tell me to my face that I was her kid's dad. I had never slept with the b***h before in my life. f**k I don't know who the f**k she even is.

With the help of my friends, it was proven that her kid didn't belong to me. And my lawyer sued her ass for going around telling everyone that her kid belonged to me. And for the fact that she was trying to get child support out of me, and she put my name on the birth certificate. I won the lawsuit, and she had to remove my name. And pay me for the damages done.

While all of that was going on, I was tempted to find my girl. But I knew that something had to happen for her to leave me and ask for time. So I was going to honor that and wait for her to come to me. But dont think that I wasn't pissed off over it, because I was. Let me tell you, I was so f*****g mad that she left me.

Since I was medically discharged, I loaded all of my s**t up and moved back home. Tulip's brother Stone and our club brothers Rex, and Ink, and my blood brothers Hawk and Neon came out with their trucks to help me move back home.

When Stone learned about what happened with Tulip, he wanted to go and find her and tell her off. As it was, he tried to call her, and she told him that she didn't want to see him and hung up on him after he cussed her out and told her off.

Since I've been back home, I haven't seen her at all. From what I understand, she doesn't come back home, and when she does, it's for a day or two for holidays, and then she's gone again. When she graduated from college, her parents and brothers went out to watch her graduate. And then she took off to New York with a friend of hers.

I gotta admit that I was hoping that she'd move back home. And then I'd be able to finally get some f*****g answers. But as is my f*****g luck, she decided to move even further away. And I have no idea when or if she will ever move back home. So I decided to move on.

Dont get pissed at me just yet. While I decided to move on, it had been mostly with men only. I occasionally hooked up with women. But for the most part, Ink, Rex, and I started to spend a lot of time together, and eventually we started dating. They knew Tulip, and they knew all about my relationship with her. They admitted to me that they both liked her and wouldn't mind bringing her into our relationship if she's up for it.

If she ever comes home, that is.

A few months back, the guys and I were still just casual. I went on an undercover Mission with Bear and a few other guys. We were trying to catch the bastards that were after Bears' old lady. While we were away, Bear and I talked, and I told him what had happened with Tulip and me. While he knew who she was, he wasn't ever close to her.

When he joined the club, she was still in high school, but she didn't often come around the clubhouse. I told him everything that I knew about what happened. I even included the b***h who was trying to say her kid was mine. But I told him that Tulip said in her note that she knew that I'd never cheat on her. But I didn't know why she left me.

After a long talk that day, I wasn't as pissed off anymore. But I was still mad. And I needed to know what the f**k happened to make her run from me. But at the same time, I didn't want to know because I had a feeling that it was going to piss me the f**k off.

We had been back home for months now, and Bear and Leandro's girl, Effie, was now safe. We managed to do away with all of them men and her b***h of a mother that was out to hurt her. And we have also worked on shutting the trafficking ring down. That, however, is still taking us some time to deal with.

Today I was at Inks shopping, sitting in his chair getting my back piece worked on. Now that I wasn't in the military anymore, I could finally get the tattoos that I had been saving up to get. The piece on my back was of an ocean scene. I loved the ocean, so the top of my back had a ship on it, and the farther down you go, it shows different sea creatures. It's got mermaids, dolphins, fish, whales, and so much more. It's a badass-looking piece so far, and it's taking time to get it done.

While he was busy with it, my phone rang. When I looked down at it, I saw that Stone was calling me.

"Hold up for a minute, Ink. Stone is calling, and it cant be good. He knew what I was doing today," I told him.

"Ok," he said as he stopped for a minute.

I sat up a little bit and answered the phone. "Hey Stone, what's up?"

"Hey, I know that you're busy. But I just wanted to call and let you know that my mom and grandparents were in a car accident earlier," he told me.

"Are they ok? What hospital are they in?" I asked him.

"They are fine. Moms just got some bumps and bruises. Grandma broke her arm, and Grandpa broke his leg. The grandparents will be in the hospital for a week, probably. My mom will be out in a day or so. I just wanted to give you a heads up. My mom had me call my sister. She wants her to come down here and stay for a month or so. That way, she has help with the grandparents since they will now have all four of them living at their house. I just got off the phone with Pebbles. She has a show in a couple of days, but after that, she'll probably be on her way down. She has to talk to her boss first, and then she said she'd call mom when she gets off work. As pissed as I am at her, I'm a little worried as well. When I told her about the accident, it sounded like she was about to have a panic attack until I told her that they were ok. That's not normal. She's never had them as far as I know. I've got a feeling that something happened. I'm going to have Techy look into it and see what he can find. He's looked for me before, but didn't find anything. I'm going to have him do a deep dive to see what he can find. I have a bad feeling about it, brother," he told me.

"If something like that happened to her, then surely you guys would know. I dont think that she would have kept that from you. I asked my CO when I got back if I had messages of any kind, but he said no. Maybe I'll call again and ask him. You'd think that she would have tried to reach out to me if she had been in an accident. And if so, I dont know why he didn't tell me about it. Anyway, thanks for the heads up. I'll stay clear of your parents' place once she makes it in. Ink's working on my tattoo right now. When he's done, I'll stop by the hospital to see your mom and grandparents. If you need anything before I head that way, just let me know. And I'll shoot you a text when I'm on my way," I told him.

When I got off the phone with Stone, Ink asked me, "What was that about?"

So I filled him in as he got back to work on my tattoo. And I spent the rest of the time that he was working on it thinking about the fact that my Flower was going to be in the same town as me for more than a couple of days for the first time in a long time. And what I was going to do about it.

Shit may just get interesting.
