Tulip
Daddy met me on my side of the car and helped me out.
"I'll grab my bag and get whatever you need out in a few. I dont know about you, but I gotta go to the bathroom again. And I really need to stretch my legs. I hate long car rides; I'd rather be on my bike. But I wasn't about to let you do that drive alone. And I'm glad that I didn't now. It was nice getting to spend some alone time with you and catching up," Dad said as he helped me up the porch steps.
"Me to Daddy. It was definitely needed. I miss spending time with you. And I miss the rides that we used to take on your bike. It's been a while since we've done that," I said.
"Yeah, it has. We'll have to get away and go for a ride if you think that you can," he said.
As we headed for the door, it opened up, and Mom stepped outside.
"Oh, there is my baby, finally. What the hell took you so long to get here? I figured that you'd be here earlier," she asked us. But then she didn't give us a chance to answer her. My mom pulled me to her and squished me in a big hug. "Oh, my baby is finally home. I missed you so damn much. I may just lock you up and not let you leave again."
I just chuckled and wrapped my arms around her. Where I'm five feet even, my mom is about five feet seven. I have her green eyes and my Daddy's blue like hair. It's a dark color, and most people would say that it's black, but it's like a blue. And I have a white streak in my hair in my bangs.
My brothers are a combination of our parents as well. Daddy is six foot five, and the boys are just as tall, if not taller. And they have red or brown hair with green and blue eyes. I'm the only one who got Daddy's hair color. But because Sean has dark black hair, he was able to get away with saying that I was his. He couldn't claim the boys.
"I missed you, too, Mom, more than you know. And I'll be down here for a month at least, maybe more. We'll have plenty of time to spend together. But right now, I really have to pee. And then I want to see the grandparents if they're still up," I told her.
"Yeah, they are awake. They made me put dinner on hold until you both got here. They wanted to eat with you and spend time with you. Your brothers are also here. They wanted to see you, too. Come on inside," she said and started for the door with her arm around me.
We walked inside, and I let go of Mom and made a beeline straight for the bathroom. After using the bathroom, I washed my hands and then headed back out to the living room. When I got to the living room, I went around and hugged each of my grandparents. And then I hugged my brothers. Rubble and Rock both picked me up and spun me in a circle and kissed me on the forehead.
Stone stayed back away from us at first. And he had a woman at his side. I was guessing that she was Piper, his old lady. When Rock set me back down, I tried to hide the wince. My numbs were hurting, and it took everything I had to keep my legs away from my brothers so that they didn't feel my prosthetics.
After Rock sat me back down, he said, "We sure did miss you around here, Pebbles. It's not been the same without you. But I gotta say, I'm so damn proud of you. We saw the show for your new line last night. And we got to watch as you walked the runway. You looked amazing. There were a few different women on there who said that you were the one in charge of the line, and it had been you to make it all happen. It was pretty awesome to watch."
"Yeah, one of the old ladies had been flipping through the TV channels in the clubhouse and stopped on it. Showed the front stage and the back, and you were a badass to watch. It looked like a f*****g circus backstage, but you looked so awesome telling them what to do. I'm proud of you," Rubble said.
"Thank you. My boss, Avery, and I ran around like chickens with our heads cut off all night. By the time I got home, I was exhausted. But the girls looked amazing, and the show was a huge success. We've already sold out of so many outfits, and they're only online. I can't imagine what it'll be like once they release it to the stores. I gotta say it's giving me a lot of experience. And if I ever decide to go out on my own, I'll know what all needs to be done. And I think that I know what kind of clothes that I want to design as well," I said.
I then turned to Stone and said, "Are you going to give me a hug or just stand there giving me dirty looks all night. I've been my biggest littlest rock."
He smirked at the way that I said that. Our dad always called us his little rocks growing up. And with his road name being Boulder and his dad Brick, it stuck. So my brothers all got rock names, and that's how I ended up being Pebbles. It's the smallest rock.
He walked over to me, pulled me to him, and then hugged me.
"I missed you as well, Pebbles. But you and I need to sit down and talk. I'm still pissed about s**t, and you know it," he told me.
"I know that you are. And Daddy and I already talked, and he knows what happened, so he understands why I did what I did. And I need to talk to Shadow if he'll speak to me and explain myself before I talk to you. I mean, I can tell you some of it but not all of it," I told him.
As we were talking, everyone else made their way to the dining room. Daddy stayed with me, and he told Stone, "I know what happened back then. We had a long talk on the way down. She did what she had to do for her mental and emotional health, and for now, that's all you need to know. Tomorrow you can go with me to take her over to the house, and we'll talk then. For now, introduce your sister to your old lady, and let's go eat. I'm ready for a hot meal. The food your sister made to take with her for the ride was good, but it was cold. We need some hot grub."
Stone nodded and then looked behind him. His old lady was still standing there, so he held out his hand. "Pebbles, this is Blondie, Blondie, my sister Pebbles. Or if you want birth names, Tulip, this is Piper, and Piper, this is Tulip. Now, let's go eat."
I shook hands with Piper and said, "It's nice to finally meet you, and I prefer to be called Tulip. These guys are the only ones who still call me Pebbles. And I agree with Daddy, we need hot food. And then I know that I need a hot shower and bed."
"Let's eat, and then we can go and get what you need for the night out of the SUV," Daddy said.
We then headed to the dining room and took our seats. Mom had made a few big pans of lasagna with garlic bread and salad. It smelled so good. I had missed my mom's cooking.
"This smells so good, Mom. I've missed your cooking," I told her.
We all filled our plates up and then started to eat. As we were eating, we talked about a little bit of everything. I got to catch up with my grandparents, parents, and my brothers. It was so damn nice being around my brothers again.
When we were done eating, the boys helped my grandpa to the living room. And we all helped to clear the table. My grandma, Willow, wanted to help with the dishes. But Mom sent her to the living room with my other grandparents to watch the news. It would be hard for her to do much with one arm.
I tried to help with the dishes once the table was cleared off, but Mom shooed me out of the kitchen. She said that she and Piper could get it. That after that long drive, I could shower and rest for the night.
So, Daddy and I went out to my SUV to get what I would need. I opened the suitcase that had my stretchy clothes in it and grabbed a pair of pants, shorts, and a baggy shirt. I also grabbed clothes for tomorrow. After that bag was zipped back up, I shoved everything into my book bag. I grabbed my laptop bags out, and Daddy grabbed my bags and my travel shower chair and carried them all inside for me.
After locking up the car, I headed inside right behind him. I was happy that my old room had its own bathroom. So I could set my chair up and not have to worry about anyone coming in and seeing it. Daddy set most of my stuff on my bed, and then he took the shower chair into the bathroom and got it set up.
After he left the room, I shut the door and went to take a shower. I put all of my shower stuff into the bathroom and set my clothes on the vanity. After I started the water running, I went back into the bedroom to get undressed and take my prosthetics off.
It didn't take me long to shower, and when I was done, I got dried off and then dressed. Then, using my arms, I got out of the shower chair and walked back into the bedroom. For a while, it felt weird to walk on my nubbins. But I'm used to it now.
When I got back into my bedroom, I was going to put my prosthetics and my pants on before going downstairs. What I wasn't expecting was to open the bathroom door and Stone to be standing by my bed looking at the prosthetics.
When he heard the bathroom door open, he looked up and then looked down. When I saw him standing there, I had sat down. I was surprised to see him.
"What are you doing in here?" I asked him when I was able to find my voice.
"I came to say goodbye. Blondie and I are heading out. I'm needed at the club. But I didn't want to leave without telling you goodbye and that I'd see you tomorrow. When did this happen and how did it happen?" he asked me.
"It happened three years ago. Right after Shadow left for a year-long tour. I was in a car accident. There is s**t that happened that I don't want to talk about yet. I need to talk to Shadow first. But after that accident, I was in a very bad place, and he needed to keep a clear head. The last thing that I wanted was for him to get hurt by being worried about me. Especially after I talked to his CO, and I was afraid to tell the family. I was afraid of lashing out and hurting you guys. I was in a really bad place, Stone," I told him as I went over to the bed and pulled myself up.
I could tell that he wanted to help me, but he didn't. I put my clean pants and socks on the prosthetics and then put my nubbing socks on my legs and then my prosthetics on. When I stood up, I pulled the pants over my shorts and then turned to face my big brother.
"I couldn't figure out why you were keeping your legs away from the boys downstairs. Now I understand. You didn't want them to feel your prosthetics. I'm sorry that I've been an ass these past few years. I thought the worst, and I shouldn't have. I, more than anyone, know how much you loved Shadow. I should have known that something major kept you away from him. I am pissed that you kept it from us. But I feel like s**t now. I have to get to the clubhouse, but I will be back over tomorrow to help you move to the grandparents' place. And we'll talk more then, I promise. Are you going downstairs? They're all down there watching a movie," Stone asked me.
"Yeah, I'll go down for a little while. And I forgive you. You didn't know what was going on. And I'll tell everyone else, eventually. Right now, we need to concentrate on getting the grandparents all better," I told him.
When we stepped out of my room, Daddy was heading towards us. When he looked at me, I smiled and said, "He knows about my legs. But that's it. He kind of saw me without them. We talked, but we're going to talk more tomorrow. I have to talk to Shadow before I tell him everything, though."
"I agree with that. Let's get downstairs and watch a movie before bed. The grandparents all want to spend time with you. Everyone missed you, Pebbles," Daddy said.
I missed them as well.
So I let Daddy and Stone help me downstairs, and I curled up on the couch the best that I could to watch a movie with my family.
Well, most of them. I know that it was going to be hard. But I was so happy to be home.
