Chapter 3

1496 Words
Keya A gasp followed by murmurs began flying around. My eyes didn't move from staring at the screen. A video of Asher and I having s*x. I was confused and shocked. The screen then went blank, and Asher spoke up. "Can you all recognize the face in that video?" he asked. The murmur was still flying around. I felt a constricting bitterness at the pit of my stomach. I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out. "The person is none other than Keya Levi here." I couldn't believe my ears. I was still in shock from the video I watched. I didn't understand what Asher was doing. "What are you doing, Asher?" I managed to crack out my voice barely audible. "This gold digger here thought she can seduce me. That video shows how shameless she can be," he said. My throat tightened more. Or was I dreaming? Asher was supposed to tell the world how much I mean to him. He was supposed to tell everyone about our relationship. "This shameless girl you're seeing came to my room and seduced me. She even went as much as begging me to be her boyfriend, all so she could be the Luna of this pack." What? What was Asher going on about? "That's a lie!" I finally found my voice and said. Asher spared me a look. I saw a different person. His eyes are no longer the ones I found captivating. I saw something different in them. I began shaking my head. This is definitely a dream. "You're joking right. Asher." I reached for his hand only for him to jerk it off. "Get your hands off me, you shameless girl!" He seethed. And at that moment, I knew I wasn't dreaming. I knew something had gone wrong. "Do you think I'm a fool? Didn't you see how clear your face was in the video?" he said, grabbing me forcefully by the arm. My face was indeed there. But it was our private affairs. Why would he leak that out? "I'm sorry to say this Mrs. Isadora, but I can't see myself with your daughter. I don't like women who throw themselves at a man. I'm sorry if this came out unexpected," he said. My eyes met my mother's and I saw a disappointed look in her eyes. Same goes to my sister. This isn't right. "How can you do this to me, Asher! I thought we had something going on. Why!" I allowed the tears to roll out. "We had something going on? Wake up from your fantasy, Keya. You and I have never had a serious thing going on. You're too clingy and boring." "My dear pack members...." He turned to the audience. "You should do as much as you can to stay away from teenage girls like this. Had I not been wise enough, she would've ripped me off. Sorry, Keya, but you're out. But I can actually do you some favor." He ushered his eyes then going to my body. "You know... for going the extra mile to look like the slut that you are." Before I could know what was happening, He fished out a bundle of money. "To compensate you for getting this nice piece of dress." He threw the bundle of money up and they sprayed all over my body. I hadn't felt humiliated and heartbroken like I felt at that moment of time. Bile rose in my throat as the crowd began laughing. Some were even clapping their hands. I saw nothing but disappointment in my family's eyes. Alpha Desmond and his wife also gave them their own share of disappointment. Asher had humiliated me beyond what I expected. He promised to make me the happiest woman. He made me believe he was in love with me and can do anything for me. Was that all an act? But for what exactly? Suddenly, anger surged through me, and I grabbed his neck. "What did I ever do to you to deserve this, Asher? Tell me!" I yelled. He didn't seem to be moved by my action. Instead, his smile widened more. "You want to know why?" He mocked, leaning his face to my ears. "Obviously to get your company in my possession. Do you think I would accept you just like that? I could have any woman I want but not someone like you." He said bitterly. I stared at him in confusion, not understanding what he was going on about. "I don't understand." "Your father actually left a will note and a document in my father's possession. He said my father should give it to you when you graduate. But I got it first. I approached you five months ago just so I could get you to sign the documents when you graduate which you did." The pain that was hitting my chest grew two-fold. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Document? What document was it that father couldn't give to my mother he had to give to another person? "Oh yes, you might not remember, but it was that night. The firework was a plan. A plan to stir you." And that was when the dots clicked together. "Don't think too much. The document I told you about being part of my research work was actually a lie. I made it up to get your signature. Half of your company now belongs to me." I could barely stand straight. I recalled it. He did give me some papers to sign as a referee, saying it's for a project work. I didn't read it or anything. Tears clouded my vision. "You betrayed me, Asher. You're a liar!" I began shedding tears, grabbing him by the neck. "You humiliated me before my family! Why!" He jerked his shirt away. "I'm sorry and not sorry. I needed to pretend to get what I want. If you'd excuse me," he said, turning to face the crowd. Different pairs of eyes were then on me. Accusations, disappointment, laughter, claps. All came from different people. I felt humiliated and devastated. "So... to announce the great news..." I couldn't stand it any longer. I ran out of the hall. Far away from the disappointed eyes of the people. ** "What a way to humiliate us, Keya. Well done. You've done a great job," Vivian expressed her disappointment as we arrived back home. Mother didn't do as much as utter a word. She didn't even cast a look my way. And that broke me to the core. "I'm sorry, Vivian..." I choked. "I didn't know he'd do such. I didn't know there was any document." I didn't know why father would keep such a thing from us. And for the signature? Why didn't I think it over before signing? How can a nineteen-year-old be a referee to a twenty-five-year-old man's research work? I didn't think about any of that. "Of course, you won't. When you were enjoying opening your legs to him, you didn't think of something going wrong. Now see how much humiliation you brought to this family. What will happen to your father's company now?" The words came from my mother. I saw disappointment and pain in her eyes. "I'm sorry, mother. I-" "Don't you dare address me as your mother," she said, pointing a finger at me. My mouth opened in shock. I couldn't believe what I was hearing from her. "Seeing your face hurts me. I feel ashamed to call you my daughter." "Mother-" I marched forward with the hopes of pleading when she pointed at the door. "Get out." I shook my head, tears flowing down more. "Please...mo-" "I said get out. I don't want to see your face!" she shouted in a voice I've never heard her use before. I casted the two of them one last pleading look before running out of the house. I ran out as fast as I could, my chest brewing with more pain. The words of Asher weren't as painful as the words of my mother were. It echoed in my head. I stopped running to catch my breath. My heart felt as if it would rip apart. The street was already dark and quiet. I felt like the darkness should swallow me whole. The pain was too much to bear. I want to succumb to darkness and forget everything. Maybe I will feel better. I found my legs moving on their own towards the seashore. The words of Asher rang in my head. My mother's and my sister's words. I could feel the wetness on my feet, but that didn't stop me from moving inside the water. The pain in my chest kept getting intense. My dress was drenched as the water reached below my chest. I closed my eyes as my face dipped inside the water. "Please, Moon Goddess, take my pain away" were the last words I chanted in my head before succumbing to darkness.
