Chapter 4

Keya "Her fingers are moving." "She just blinked her eyes." I heard unfamiliar voices in my head. I tried to move part of my joint but couldn't. Was I in heaven? "Call the doctor." Another voice said. Doctor? Which doctor? I felt a touch on my hand followed by sobs. Was that my mother? "Please wake up Keya. I'm here with you." She's referring to me. And that's not my mother's voice. I tried to move my body once again but to no avail. "Please Ma'am." A manly male voice said, and the next thing I felt something drop on my chest. I could feel my own heart thumping through my ears. All of a sudden, I began feeling bile rising in my throat. My breathing hitched, and I emitted out a loud growl. My chest heaved up and down, and an image flashed before me. I saw myself dressed in white kneeling on a cold sandy floor with a breeze blowing from different proportions. A voice from nowhere echoed through the surrounding. "Keya Levi." The multiple female voices called. "You have made a mistake in your past life. You broke the heart of your loved ones. And you think ending your life is the best choice." My head was casted down as the multiple voices continued. "However, the moon goddess had seen your good heart and decided to give you a second chance. You're given three months to reclaim what was taken from you. If you fail to set everything right before the three months exceed, you'll turn to dust, and that will be the end of you." And then laughter followed. The one that shook my existence. With one heavy intake of breath, my eyes fluttered open to a white ceiling. "How are you feeling, Keya? Are you feeling any pain anywhere?" I was greeted by the face of an unfamiliar woman. A wince left me when I tried to sit up. "Take it easy there," she said, helping me up. The woman looked the same age as my mother. But she wasn't my mother. My eyes scanned the room back to the gown I was wearing. I was indeed alive. Like, I didn't die. "Do you need anything?" The woman asked again. She poured a moderate amount of water into a glass cup and handed it over to me. I wasted no time in gulping it down. My throat was subsequently dry. "How are you feeling?" The doctor asked. I could only nod my head. He examined me more. "We will run some few tests later. For now, get some rest." And then he left the room. The woman occupied the empty space on the bed and took both of my hands in hers. It reminded me of my mother. I have a lot of questions to ask. "What was my name again?" I finally spoke. The woman looked at me as if I've grown two heads. "You're my Keya, of course. Keya Richard." Richard? Not Levi? "How did I end up here?" "You don't remember? You got into an accident on your way coming back home from the office. Your car hit a truck." What? Office? Car? I owned a car? My eyes blinked at the woman. What was going on? Was this the second chance the voice was saying? I was reborn again? But in another world? And different identity? "Can you give me a mirror?" I asked. Even though the woman looked at me puzzled, she still fumbled her hand inside her bag and fished out a mirror. A gasp literally left my lips as I saw my face in the mirror. That wasn't me. I woke up in another body? I was reborn. In a different body. In a different family. With a different identity. "Are you sure you're okay?" the woman broke the silence. "No. I am not. I don't think I will be. This is not me." I said pulling the covers off my body, only for my eyes to land on the cast on my legs. "You have been in a coma for a week. A week Keya. Your father and I thought we had lost you." And then the door busted open with a man in a suit hot in his tail. "Damn my Keya." Before I could know what was happening, the man engulfed me in a bone-crushing hug. "I...can-t-" He pulled away but cupped my face. "You gave us a scare. We thought we had lost you." I didn't know what was going on. The two kept on showering me with hugs while my mind was elsewhere. "Come on, Richard, let's allow her to rest. Looks like we're making too much rest." The woman nudged her husband. "You're right Stella. Take a rest, Keya." They helped me lay back down, and I closed my eyes. Maybe if I do, it will take me back home. Maybe I would meet my mother and sister instead. However, when I woke up, I was greeted with the same room. And the same set of people. This time around, there was a young lady. The woman helped me up once again. "Easy there. How are you feeling now?" She asked. "Much better." I answered honestly. I actually felt much better than before. "I'm glad you're fine, Ma'am Keya." The young lady uttered, passing me a bouquet of flowers. I nodded even though I have no idea who she was. "Why are you looking at her like that? Or you don't know Elise, your secretary anymore?" Oh, I see. I also have a secretary. "No Ma- I mean moth...er." I formed the words out. "Thank you, Elise." I said. I took my time to assess the woman claimed to be my mother. Her skin is undoubtedly glowing. Was I reborn in a rich family? I can see from the hospital room and the way the woman was dressed. The words I had in my dreams rang in my ears. You're given three months to reclaim what was taken from you. But how? From where will I start when I'm now a different person? "Damn, Asher Desmond had taken over the South District building once again." My head snapped towards my said secretary checking her phone. "What did you say?" I asked. "I said Asher-" "Pass me the phone." I stretched out my hand. The first thing I was met with was the face of Asher in an open interview and the headline for the news. With the date slated as 2021. My eyes widened. Was I transported to the future? Three years leap.
